Alternatively just buy a valve amp. I recently picked an Ashdown Little B*stard from FB marketplace for just £220! Looks and sounds fantastic. That’s cheaper than getting an Orange Bass Terror. Mine was a steal but £300 will probably get you one. Do it. You won’t regret it.

My first real bass was a Tokai Hardpuncher. I bought it when I was 15 and sold it a couple of years later when I upgraded to a Fender Precision Special with a graphite neck and EMGs. 30 years later the bass came back up for sale for about 4 times what I sold it for. I hummed and hawed for a little while but it was the wife who offered the most clarity by saying “you’ll always regret it if you don’t buy it“ and “you can always sell it if you don’t like it!” Wise words. I bought it and still have it 5 years later. It’s now hanging on my landing wall.

Bought and sold a few things this year. The best has to be an Ashdown Little B 30w valve head last week. Absolutely lovely and pokey too!

I used it on Thursday & Friday at a jam and then a gig. Really surprised how loud it was. Win!
