1. Yeah, I've had the send return linked for a long time - this seems to be a fresh issue. Any recommendations for a tech near Oxfordshire/Berkshire?
2. Hi Folks, My trusty EBS HD350, which I've had for years, has been slowly developing an intermittent crackle/hiss over the last few months. Mostly a 'tap' (OK, thump) has fixed the issue. The other day it seemed to give up the ghost completely, no amount of jiggling, tapping or sweet talking would coax it back to life. I'm making do with an Ashdown Classic Line 30W at the moment and it isn't exactly my tone and doesn't have enough grunt for practices or gigs. EBS have suggested cleaning the send/return jack and looking at the series/parallel dip switches (which I have done). No luck so far. Here's a video I took of the issue - any suggestions for a fix? I've been quoted £120 to just take a look!
3. I'm selling my tc bh550. I've had it since Feb, it was offered as a replacement for an Ampeg PF-500 which repeatedly blew up and cut out. I have to say that it's better than the Ampeg in terms of the range of tone it can produce and clarity. This amp has been faultless, it's also V small and has a handy dual toneprint (programmable fx) facility and headphone out/line in. I have an overdrive and chorus currently set and it's easy to swap them with the app. It is mint, still has the marketing sticker on the top. It's done a few rehearsals and a couple of gigs bit always straight back into my padded kit case so it's spotless. I still have the original box. I can deliver but don't know how much it costs to send, pm your address and I'll check it out. Will include the 3 button TC pedal I got to switch toneprints and mute. PM if you are interested. Cheers Andy
4. Just for the record,I'd like to say that dolphin/PMT have been awesome. They swapped out my portaflex + £20 for a tc electronics bh550. I'm so blown away by this gesture of goodwill, I rarely buy new stuff but this has really paid off this time. They have been very understanding throughout. Thank you guys
5. Following on from my 'PF500 died' and 'Polar Audio repairs threads': http://basschat.co.uk/topic/229422-polar-audio-repairs/page__p__2364220#entry2364220 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/223947-pf500-died-yesterday/page__p__2296270#entry2296270 (essentially, my PF550 turned into a smoke machine which took over 3 months for Polar Audio to repair) I thought I'd give an update as it's been some time. I eventually got my pf500 back from Polar Audio via Dolphin Music (PMT) - it was fine for a few months, I noticed that the fault light was starting to stay on longer and longer each time I switched it on. (up to 2 seconds), this was the behaviour I'd noticed before the smoke machine incident so I wasn't hugely surpried when it started cutting out again. This time with no smoke, fortunately. So one quick call to Dolphin Music was all it took to have it collected (next day - V impressed) - Again it was away for some time and I eventually got it back last wek. I bravely gigged it (it was fine) - however I did notice that it still took a couple of seconds for the fault light to go out at power up. Sure enough, last night at practice (slightly louder than the gig) it cut out after about 15 minutes. I've called Dolphin who have arranged for a collection again tomorrow. However I really don't want this thing back, I love the sound but it just isn't working. I'm only driving a single pf115 8Ohm cab - not exactly taxing for it. I suspect that Polar Audio gave it a cursory test, didn't drive it hard enough to fail and just sent it back without changing anything. Just for the record, Dolphin/PMT have been great and very understanding. I'm not sure I'm after advice here, I just want a moan!
6. Anyone else having problems getting repairs completed by Polar Audio? They've had my Ampeg pf-500 for months (via PMT) PMT have been V friendly but say there's nothing they can do to chivvy it along :/
7. lots of hateful blue smoke pouring out the back of my portaflex last night :/ Had only just switched it on. Gong to call PMT this morning when they open to find out what to do. Pretty gutted
8. Still for sale: here's the spec from Peavey (PDF): assets.peavey.com/literature/manuals/80301560.pdf Weight is 26.4KG - 58lbs 175W RMS 350W Program
9. Matt: replied Goblin: will check weight this evening
10. Hi Goblin, it's 4 Ohms. I can't deliver by post I'm afraid. I could deliver within 10 miles of didcot (that includes M4 or M40 services) for 50p a mile one way. Cheers Andy
11. Hi FLC, it's at home so can't check. However this one on ebay looks identical and the stats on the back say 175 RMS and 350 program http://www.ebay.com/itm/Peavey-210TX-350-Watts-2-X-10-Bass-Enclosure-Speaker-Cabinet-Made-In-USA-210-TX-/221138394352 Don't be put off by the low price, I just REALLY need the space and it must go. Depending on whether my daughter is asleep or not, you are welcome to come and try the cab out. Cheers Andy
12. Peavey 2x10 cab. A bit battered and the nut has fallen off the horn trim pot which has fallen into the cab. easy to fix if youhave a spare nut! Otherwise, the speakers are in good condition, it works as it should. Cheap cab, need the space. Based near Didcot, south Oxfordshire. no swaps please Cheers Andy
13. Bakerster: yes that makes perfect sense. Overdrive is what I'm after I've read that the VT pedal can sound like a fliptop OR an SVT depending on settings. Looking forward to finding out. +++ I have this loaner pedal to compare with. Thank you all so much for the advice. I have been quite impulsive and bought a VT delux on ebay. 1 week old (supposedly) £180. Quite pleased with that. Not sure it's going to arrive in time for this evening though. I'm also wondering if I got the correct cab (1x15) when perhaps a 2x10 would have cut through more. ID: I was really overwhelmed by the Pi at first, getting it to sit in the mix nicely is quite hard. However dialing in 'sustain' with your foot whilst playing is pretty entertaining.
