1. This is a good web site if you like Ricks www.joeysbassnotes.com It's also a good read for help on set up's etc for basses in general... I'm definately going to get a Rick, one day....I would love one, literally!!
 2. Do a google search for Hartke Bass Gig Pack and you can see the pics and check out the info and prices... Basically everythings the great quality you'd expect from Hartke.,although the action was a little high and the wiring inside the control cavity was very untidy and some of the soldered joints were a bit weak,so I've redone them and grouped and cable tied the wiring so thats all neater and not going to be rattling round and causing any problems later on, but apart from that a Good Bass and a Great Full sounding little practise amp...Well worth a look/listen Just thought I'd give it a mention PJP
 3.
Pics please - couldn't find anything googling Bass Collection/Bass Centre Bass Collection etc... And I'm very curious..!
Hiya, Go into The Bass Guitar section and look down for "Obscure Musical Backwaters" there you will find a very informative thread is it?... It contains alot of chat and information and some nice pics of The original Bass Collection Basses by SGC Nanyo. I have a '95 SB310 in Red,which I play all the time as my main bass. Hope I've been of some help! Paul.
 4.
EDIT: ON EBAY NOW I bought this lovely blue Bass Collection a few months back. Turns out that she for whom it was bought doesn't want it, and would like a jazz bass instead...
Hi,DangerBoy...Did you ever sell your Bass Collection? I've a '95 SB310 in red. I think they're great basses and use mine all the time and would deffinately never part with it. PJP.

 7.
No sign of that. You may be referring to the reflection of my ceiling lamp. Here is a pic of my 'thumb-rest'. You can see where my thumb nail has dug a 1/4" divot over the last 20 years, and there is only black paint showing around the edge . . . Here is my Black Trio. '87 SGC - Fender Aerodyne - '88 SGC So, can anyone tell me which model SGCs these are? Thanks Guys, Robin
Hiya Robin,I think these may be SB310's...What do you think Happy Jack? Good old SGC Nanyo have brought up quite a bit of interest on here lately,Havn't they?
 8.
Worth clarifying that the screws aren't to hold the tuner onto the headstock - that's the job of the hexagonal nuts you're asking about! The screws actually lock the tuners in position, and stop them from spinning around under string tension - so it's vitally important to make sure they're secure too. Jon.
Thanks,Jon.Yes,I'd already worked it out myself about the screws...it was just about the tightness of the hexagonal nuts that I wanted to check on.Thanks anyway,PJP.
 9.
If you have a deep enough socket so you dont mark the posts use it. They want to be snug, so finger tight an then 1/8 turn to nip them up or they will come undone again. Not too tight or you will imprint the washers on the headstock wood, and not tight enough and the tuner post guide will put undue stress on the plate into which it is attached.
Thanks Guys,PJP.
 10.
I tighten mine gently with a cycle 'cone' spanner, perfect for the job if you have one handy. Just nip them up a little more than finger tight so they don't vibrate loose.
Thanks "GreeneKing" I'll have a look in the old toolbox for one and maybe keep it in my Gig bag tool kit with the spare batteries and stuff.
 11.
I've found that on a lot of basses, the tuner post can rattle when not under tension and seem loose when in fact it isn't designed to be super tight. I don't think a specific torque setting would apply here, more a careful check that the screws holding the tuner on to the headstock are firm - they are only screws in wood after all. If you mean the hexagonal nut that locks down over the post on the front of the headstock is loose, I would make sure that it is tight so that the tuner casing is held firmly in place. If the post rattles after that, then so be it, it should be ok.
Thanks for the advice Muppet..although you don't sound like a muppet to me! Yes,on removing the strings to give my bass a clean the hexagonal nuts that you describe are all loose making all four tuners loose...the screws holding the tuner on to the headstock all appear to be firm. So what your saying is that they should all be tight...Is that finger and thumb tight or is it better to get them a bit tighter using an adjustable wrench or something? Thanks...
 12.
On replacing or restringing,I've noticed that sometimes my tuners are loose...I don't want to overtighten them and risk damaging the head. Or should they be a bit loose when the strings have been taken off? and no tension is applied? I feel like it's a daft query, but I like things to be done right...
 13.
Over at TalkBass, people are raving about this bass and how unappreciated it is. Apparently it didn't sell well due to it being a bit of an odd looker. I've always wanted a P-bass, but with a bigger bass output and for it to have a Stingray MM pickup and that great slap tone. (Hence why I own a Stingray copy now ) So before it is discontinued, I'd like to ask has anyone had experience of this bass? Thanks.
Hi! Yes,I've got an Ibanez SRX400 it's an August '03, Dark Stained Finish with a White Pearl Scratch Plate model. With having a maple neck and a soft maple body and a MM style pick up its tone is nice and bright(even when played unplugged, through the body amp!). The "Tone" control dosn't change the tone as such it activates the active electronics thats fitted which boosts the pre amp signal...so in my opinion the "tone" knob should be marked "boost"... but there again activating the active electronics does change the tone but not in the usual way that you would expect +/- the treble,I hope you get my drift... The neck is very thin and comfortable therefore making it "fast" and very easy to play. It's got Gotoh tuners which hold the tuning really well.I can't remember the type or style of bridge that it's got but it's solid it holds the intonation and action brilliantly. I simply love this bass,in my opinion it sounds nice and bright and punchy, but can also sound warm...it feels nice and comfortable to play for both hands/positioning...and it looks classic! If you come across one buy it!!! I can give more accurate detailed specs if required all this was off the top of my head...I hope I've been of some help! Regards PJP.
 14.
I was going to say Harley Benton, apparently they're good basses and they cost next to nothing
I've noticed you've got an Ibanez SoundGear...Which one have you got? I've got the SRX 400... What do you think of them? I love mine!
 15. Hi! I've got my eye on a SGC NANYO BASS COLLECTION SB 310 in red,it's in mint condition... How much are they selling for? I just want to check that I've got a good deal! (anyone else is free to reply/comment as well).
