1. I had one of these cabs in original form from the 70s. It sounded alright but weighed as much as a small car...
2. Thanks! I need a used set of flatwounds for one of my basses (it's from the 60s so I think it sounds better with well worn ones!)
3. Are the statuses still available? Im happy to make a donation :-)
4.
Interesting. Old 70s/early 80s one-off or bitsa, and that would make it pretty much a cert that the pickups will be DiMarzios. Betweem them, the Schaller 3D bridge & the Ibanez Hercules tuners, it's worth more than £100 in parts. Buy it!
+1 looks like a great one to part out. The body is pretty interesting in its own right and you could fit a fair few different necks in (if its normal scale length)! Cool!
5. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
6. Does that logo look strange to you? It has a weird shadow around it, like a waterslide transfer...
7.
I know him as well - great guy. As Coldflows said RARE. Took me several years to pick a good one. Really interesting thing to own, look at and play! http://flatericbassa...w-mpc-x620.html http://flatericbassa...ss-part-ii.html
How many of the modules have you got? just the two that you use? Frog nose sounds very interesting...
8. This is at the top of my list to find one of. But as Jon Said they are rare as hens teeth in the uk and Im yet to see one in the wild :-(
9.
It looks like a solid-state amp, especially if it has a heatsink on the back. Does it come on immediately when you switch it on? Valves would take 30 seconds or so to start making sound.
It takes a few seconds but not as long as the valve heads i have had. I tried to take some photos of the inside but not had any luck. Il try again and if i get anything il pop the pictures up :-) Edit: Can't get a picture of the inside as I don't want to take it all apart. Here's the heat sink: Edit 2: Definitely solid state opened it all up and frankly you could fit all the parts in a head 1/3 the size! Guess it must get hot so lots of air space. Bits of handwriting on some of the parts but no dates as far as I can see.
10.
I've seen the Custom Sound Trucker combos, and I guess this is the same company. The trucker combos were quite cheap SS combos made in England, and the ones I've come across never sounded great. I suspect the Fane might not be original to the cab, as it wouldn't have got scratched up on the back like that bolted into a closed-back cab.
I thought that might be the case with the speaker, but it definitely looks the right age. Nothing on the speaker to date it either which is annoying. The only amps i have seen in the brand are trucker solid state heads and cub combos which look like roland cube copies. Im thinking from the font this could well be older, i cant get inside the head to see if there are any valves but there are very large heat dissipation plates on the back of the head.
11. I have a decent (and about 1/4 the weight) set up so as much as i like the tone I don't plan on keeping it very long! Just trying to fathom out what age and if its worth anything :-) Always more fun to know an items story!
12. Hello! Today's car boot sale find is a Vintage Custom Sound V Bass Head and Cab. It has a 15" Fane speaker and I have no idea what else. It works and has a nice tone to it but really needs a clean. Does anyone have any idea who made it, what wattage etc and how much it's worth? 13. It is quite expensive. I think its about the third time they've listed it too. Its a shame as id love one to add to my odd vintage Japanese guitars collection. Supposed to sound quite nice with the odd P pickup configuration near the bridge :-)
