1. Fantastic. Thanks for that - heard the song a million times back in the day but never noticed that line. Great backing track in general.
2.
I wish your pal luck - but Belgium is hardly the centre of the musical talent ,I'm racking my brain to think of any musical talent that has emerged from that country. The coaches - Jali Chimene Badi Stanislas Beverly Jo Scott Never heard of any of them. Your pal David probably has more talent than all of them put together, let alone be judged by them.
Django Reinhardt and Jacques Brel would qualify for musical talent I would think But yeah the judges are a bit... Still though, there's an entirely different francophone music scene we anglophones are never exposed to. Cool music scene in Brussels actually with the mix of people from all over the place. A helluva lot of jazz too if you're into that sort of thing. Good luck to your mate xildxx. Good choice of song - the French and Belgians love that tune.
3. As a Lizzy fan I wouldn't be too impressed by any band covering that tune and not doubling the riff properly. It's the defining characteristic of that song.
4. Nice work. All good advice. We've tried most of those things with various degrees of success - all worth trying.
5.
In my 80s band, We have an intro of a collage of clips from back to the future, and we launch into power of love...
Beautiful
6. Sounds great. Right up my alley anyway!
7. Well thanks to this thread I ordered one myself! Great guy to deal with. Ordered it on Friday, arrived Tuesday in Belgium. Also wanted a wider strap so he made a 7.5 cm wide version of the classic #2, black with a brass buckle. Beautiful piece of work and although the buckle may be a problem for scratches (let's hope not) , it looks classy for sure. As the OP said, the difference between this and a mass-produced thin leather one is huge. For 20-30 euro more seems worth it to me. No stitching anywhere, clean riveting etc. Can't imagine needing another strap for this bass for a long time. Obviously it's not for everyone but for people are picky about straps (like me) it seems well worth it.
8. I recently bought an EBS unichorus from Ian/KingBassist. Pain free, pleasant transaction from start to finish with great comms, quick posting and sturdy packaging. Rest assured if you're dealing with him, you've nothing to worry about and you won't be disappointed. Thanks again Ian!
9. Bought the ash version of this off the site a few months ago. Very happy and that's a nice price - surprised it's still here! As for lack of lines - looks nicer and after a bit of practice you don't notice anymore cause as mentioned - you're not looking at the front. Part of the fun of learning fretless is the practice anyway, so whoever gets this will be happy I'm sure! Good luck with the sale.
10. Nice I'd never heard of this place and I'm living in Belgium at the moment. Thanks, could be handy.
11. Played one of these recently. Nice, nice bass. Was very tempted to splash out at the time. Good luck with it.
12.
That was probably the only RCHP gig I was at that wasn't a washout. Seen them 6 times and they've been pants at each. The Slane DVD makes them look a lot better than they were on the day. If it wasnt for Flea there'd be no 'chillies, simple as.
This pretty much. I saw them in Dublin the year before Slane when no dvd was being filmed. 70, unenthusiastic, flat, minutes and they were done. Went to Slane and it was a great show played for nearly 2 hours (one or two jams aren't on the dvd) and were redeemed for me. But that only lasted til the next day when I found out they had filmed it for a dvd release - that explained the sudden jump in quality for me! Maybe they're better now with a young enthusiastic guitarist but after seeing them twice, I'm done with them as a live band. But hey, I doubt they'll be losing any sleep over that so if you're going to see them enjoy!
13. I just bought a big muff pedal from Simon. Nice easy transaction. Excellent communications and kept me up to date at all stages. Much obliged and deal with confidence!
