1. Best write up. Bravo! I use one of these too, tis perfect for my needs. Good luck with the sale!
2. Hello, I'm interested in the Pork & Pickle! Is it still available?

Bass octave pedal

Hi Kev, I actually have one for sale if you're still interested? Octave effects are very useful in many contexts! I have basically always used one on my board because they can add so much to certain moments in a live performance. No they won't damage your speakers. I wouldn't advise playing anything lower than an A though as they don't track well when you get that low, but you'll find these type of things out from playing around with one!
4. *PRICE REDUCTION* NOW £700! That's £450 off retail price Also open to trades of Orange or Fender amps, bass AND guitar.
5. CABS AND BOOST PEDAL NOW SOLD Super portable, very loud and super lightweight rig. Absolutely perfect for the busy travelling bassist. Slightly reluctant sale. If you want to hear know more about why I'm selling feel free to ask in a PM. Gallien Krueger MB500 head: £300 (including postage) (brand new- £418) 1 x GK Neo 112 II cab: £250 (brand new- £371 each) Both cabs: £450 (brand new- £742) If bought all together, I'll throw in two 1m speakon cables too. These cabs are surprisingly loud on their own, and are capable of powering most gigs however when you have them both together it is something else. Must be to do with the surface area or something. I find they sound best stacked vertically for that reason. To top it off they are REALLY surprisingly light to hold. Almost anyone can find themselves carrying both cabs leisurely (one in each hand) from a vehicle to a venue etc and they fit very comfortably in even some of the smallest of vehicles (my own 3 door Ford Fiesta being a strong example). They are in perfect working order and the tweeters are powerful as ever too however I prefer them turned all the way down but that's just my preference. Only thing worth mentioning about them is the usual, minor cosmetic damage from being used for gigging. I have pictured the very worst of it, which are the undersides of each cab so if you stacked them horizontally no one would ever know anyway. Now the MB500 head is ridiculously LOUD for such a compact piece of technology. It is so tiny and thin and weighs next to nothing, you can literally take it anywhere without it ever being a problem. It will fit in rucksacks, probably allot of handbags and even in the zip pocket of my soft case. Going back to how loud it is, 500 watts @ 4ohms and 350 @ 8ohms to be precise. I rarely get both the gain and master past 9 o'clock. It has a built in boost channel with a matching foot-switch which is a cool function, especially if you don't tend to use many pedals but want a volume boost for a chorus or lead part or something! ONE THING worth mentioning about the head is that I don't think the DI output works properly, last time I tried to use it it was crackly and very quiet. But it's not really bothered me at all since because I just take a DI box around with me or ask the sound man for one and plug directly into that and then use the link to go into the head. I'm sure if it's a real problem for you though it should be easy enough to fix if you know a really handy sound techy person. I actually think I might still have a warranty for it but I've never bothered a) for the reason stated above. because I've heard Gallien Krueger are a bit of a nightmare to get hold of and their customer service is a bit poor so didn't wanna risk being without it for weeks, maybe even months. Anyway, send me a PM if you're interested. Open to reasonable offers OR trades but ONLY if they are: Orange Bass Tiny Terror or AD200b MKIII or a nice Fender guitar amp. May require a little cash to make up the difference of value though. smile emoticon
6. Great thread here. Does anyone know how these compare to the GK MB500 head paired with a GK Neo 112 II cab (or 2)?
7.
Just saw this in the Basses for Sale forum http://basschat.co.u...ng-active-mint/
Thanks Mike!
8. I would be interested! I have a trace 4x10 cabinet and SWR working mans head unit that I'd be willing to swap for it ?
9. Thanks for the responses guys, I'm starting to sway towards buying a Squier Deluxe new or second hand and modding it over time. What are peoples opinions on the Squier Deluxe's? Do they offer good tonal variety? Are they heavy? Do they play nicely and what is the string spacing like? Has anyone else modified one? I would love to hear from you if you have any experience with them
10. Well, I've wanted an American Deluxe for a while but as we all know they come at quite a price, and being a student with barely enough money to afford travel I know I am going to be waiting a while longer before I can afford one and although I love my current bass I just feel as if I want a change, something more satisfying with a wider range of tones. So today I started thinking about maybe making my own high quality one out of parts, which I like the idea of as I can customise it myself from scratch without having to buy the already very expensive american deluxe and deciding that I want to change things afterward, and in the meantime I can continue playing my current bass until it is finished/playable. But as I am not very experienced at this kind of stuff I thought it was best to ask my questions on here where there are allot of pros that might be able to share some knowledge. So what I have got in mind so far: Fender Squier Deluxe Active V 5 string body but swap out the electrics with anAguilar preamp/pickups/circuitboard doo da (when I have the money to buy it). Knobs being for Master volume, Pickup blend, 3 band EQ and then swapping the switch from a slap switch to a Passive/Active switch. Unless is it possible to keep the slap switch and have a push/pull active/passive switch on the volume knob or something..? (enlighten me, I don't know much about the on-board preamp/circuitboard systems just know that I really dig the tone of the Aguilar ones). Ideally I want Active circuitry, I'd just really like to have the option of passive when I want it too. Does anyone have any experience with the Squier Deluxe V body's? Are they heavy, or a comfortable weight? I'm not sure whatneck yet but I had something like the American Deluxe one or Marcus Miller one in mind. What are peoples opinions/favourite 5 string Fender necks? Will any one fit on the squier body or not? I'm not sure what tuners and bridge yet, any suggestions? If you know what you're talking about on this stuff or have any comments about any of the things I have mentioned, I would really appreciate any feedback whether it's positive or negative so please write back! Thank you for taking the time
11. Cool that's great, thank you for the reassurance - feeling much better about it now! Think I might go for it then Anyone had experience with the PJB's though? cos I'm really curious about them! haha
12. Looking for lightweight (as cheap as possible) amps as I'm a student that does allot of travel and took interest in the Gallien Krueger MB200 and the NEO 112-II head as they are such good price and seem very capable for their size and weight.. I was wondering if anyone knows: 1) if these will work together and be a good combo? Do I have to do anything to make them compatible together because the head is 200 watts @ 4 ohms or 140 watts @ 8 ohms (don't completely understand this) and the cab is 300 watts @ 8 ohms?? 2) what are peoples opinions on both the items, particularly the MB200?? Would it be powerful enough for regular gigs (pubs, weddings, small local festivals etc), especially if DI'd? Also, what are peoples opinions on Phil Jones Flightcase BG-150 amps?? (referrence to 2^)
13. Thanks cheddatom. BOD2 - I don't notice the hum when I'm playing it's just between playing. Thank you for the explanation d-basser - What's the neck p'up shielding? and that Hum DeBugger looks great, not seen those before. Only thing is, they're a little pricey compared to the simple JOYO noise gate I've been looking at. Does the Hum DeBugger stop the hum even when you're playing as well? (unlike a noise gate would?)
14. Thanks guys. I have an EBS multicomp compressor which with the gain and compression up really high makes a small amount of noise, my other pedals don't make much but I am getting a few more soon which may... but I don't know yet. In regards to my neck pickup it is only a small amount of hum, it's not a major issue just mainly annoys me when I'm practicing in my room... Does anyone have any suggestions on active jazz neck pickups? And does anyone have any experience with JOYO JF-31 noise gate or know of/use any other cheap alternatives?
