  1. Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question so apologies if it isn't. I'm the bass player and designated lighting engineer in my six-piece band and I'm looking for a bank of at least six white spotlights that can be placed on the floor at the front of the band so that one spotlight can be pointed up at each band member and be individually dimmed if necessary. Does anyone know if such a set-up exists? I've looked at the Chauvet 6 Spot but this is meant to fit onto a tripod or lighting rig not stand on the floor. Also, I'm not sure if this unit will produce white light. Thanks in advance.
  2. I am an insurance broker (as well as a bass player!) and the £180 you have been quoted by Allianz sounds like a very good deal for a 7 piece band. Note that these policies may have exclusions such as no pyrotechnics (which may include smoke machines) so this might be an issue for you. Presumably the £177 MU subscription includes other services - if it's just for public liability insurance it's very expensive. Hope this helps.
  3. My band The Siren played its first gig with a new drummer at The Half Crown in Long Eaton last night. Strange night to be gigging but Monday is the pub's live music night. But there was a decent crowd there and we really rocked! We have had problems with drummers - the last one had been with us for five months and then quit three weeks before the gig saying he hated the set (why didn't you tell us that and leave weeks ago instead of leaving us in the lurch three weeks before a gig?). The new drummer is really great and is, we feel, our missing link. He learnt the set in two weeks and has slotted in perfectly. Looking forward to the next gig!
  4. I'm a 56 year old bass player playing with 30 somethings in a pop rock band and I nearly always sit down during rehearsal sessions. As Doddy says, rehearsals are usually longer than gigs so I don't see any problem with sitting down. Our guitarist usually does too! Also, having a very wide strap helps.
  5. Yes, I've definitely got GAS! Isn't eBay a wonderful thing when you've got a few spare minutes at work!
  6. Hi everyone, I have been looking at the forum for some time and have just joined so that I can (hopefully) contribute to some of the threads. I am currently playing in a pop rock band in Long Eaton. I have two Fender Mexican Jazz basses, an Epiphone Thunderbird and an OLP Musicman Stingray. I use Ashdown cabs with a Warwick Pro Fet head and Line 6 Bass Pod Pro. Looking forward to joining in the conversations! Regards to all. Sirenboy.
