Total Watts

  1. I had the 1x12 250w combo and it seemed a bit stretched in a fair sized pub gig so I changed to 2, 1x12 cabs and a bigger amp which gives a very versatile set up. The cabs sound good and I am told they are loud enough. They are also light at under 30lbs but only have one handle (just bought 2 EA ELX 112's for PA with one handle each) which puts them out of balance to carry, penny pinching really. I certainly have no regrets having bought them but you may find one on its own a bit pushed in anywhere other than a small pub venue.
  2. I would look very closely at the Hartke Hydrive 112 cabs. They tick all your boxes, are an easy one hand lift (30lbs I think) and don't cost a mint.
  3. Evening folks, I know nowt much about PA. Our guitarist/singer does (?) and he gets wound up before a gig. Anyway, I thought I would put a bit of bass through the desk (di from my amp) and so give the desk some control over my volume. So far so good; I got a bit in the monitors as well and that was when he threw a wobbler and said about ten times that you NEVER put bass through the monitors.....is he right? He said I should be able to hear my own rig; fair enough but if I can hear myself clearly he complains he can hear nowt but bass. Also he says bass will pop the monitors but the keyboard goes through them! So, can you put bass through your monitors ? The monitors are Carlsbro Alpha 12s I think.
  4. CD versus vinyl.......or music server (ie computer!) See Robson Acoustics website. It works alright.
  5. In: 2xHartke Hydrive 1x12 cabs Hartke LH1000 head. Out: Hartke XL4x10 Hartke XL2x10 Hartke HA7000 Open to offers on the XL2x15! The basses will go with me in a pine box.
  6. Hey, small world.....I play bass as well, not an Ibaez mind and I have an amp though it has to be said it isn't a Trace. Come to think of it, I have never played guitar; oh well! Welcome here mate and enjoy the BASS
  7. Thank you, Bremen for that gem of widom. Carolina Moon, I know it, used to sing along with my Dad, though in later years I suspect rather than in the year I was actually born. I will now crank up Youtube and have a playalong to celebrate.
  8. I think I would need a double bass, don't think they had invented the bass guitar in 1958!
  9. Having the title 'Fender Guitar....' I suppose that it may encompass basses but if not and if they can be considered seperately then Fender basses have to be contenders. That bloke Hendrix did create an impression.
  10. Folk/celtic rock set. Much of it from well known bands, some traditional and some our own, all re-arranged not least 'cause we have a lead electric fiddle rather than guitar. Any given gig includes a mix of straight folk style through to almost metal arrangements of traditional songs. Funny but we never get to play folk clubs......or anywhere much else come to that! Anyway, this was the most recent set; Protect and Survive. Runrig Bonny Ship the Diamond. Trad. Fishermans Blues.Waterboys Clare Island.Saw Doctors Ready for the Storm. Dougie Maclean Maggie. Dougie Maclean Raiders.Ours Whisky in the Jar. Trad(Lizzy arr....almost) Santiano.Trad Maymorning.Runrig The Storm.Big Country Pride of the Summer.Runrig Van Diemens Land.U2 Solsbury Hill. Peter Gabriel Beautiful Day One Great Thing. Big Country Apple Falls. Ours From the North.Runrig Loch Lomond. Trad Chance. Big Country Wish you were Here. Pink Floyd
  11. I am not very good and just play in a pub band but at least I have more sense than to pester people in a good band.

    How do!

Oh a B string doesn't go amiss! 5 is good, strings though, not cheese wires.
  13. Our band has a website (www.vortigern.org) it is not expensive and less 'cloned' than FB. You have more control over the whole layout and maybe it gives a better feel for the band. I always speak to the appropriate person and then refer them to the website so they can see what we are about; maybe not such a good plan come to think of it!Good luck.
