well as you know its the same with every bass, its how you play it too. If you wanted a Squire/Lee sound from a Ricky you need to play it quite hard and you'll need the right amp.
get a Epiphone Vintage Thunderbird Pro. its gorgeous and plays brilliantly. no neck dive, get a wide strap though.
extremely narrow neck makes it very easy and quick play.
I have a 'Fenderbird' bass that a friend of mine built for me 30 odd years ago. It's in need of some tlc. Can anyone recommend a good luthier around the Somerset/Devon/Dorset border area? Would really love to have this in playable condition again. Thanks. Robert
I love my 78 Ricky 4001 too. Don't understand why some people find them hard to play, that neck fits my hand perfectly. Never could get on with fender necks.
