  1. Thanks Anytre! Thats really helpful and extremely generous of you. However, I've just looked inside and I think its beyond me abilities! In not good with a soldering iron at the best of times and it all looks very fidgety. Im pretty certain it is the pot. I just tested it and on occasion, as a turn the volume it would work and come through crystal clear before distorting slightly and cutting out again. Then i'd turn it and it would do the same thing again. M
  2. Hi Bass Hive I have just dropped by beloved Genz Benz shuttlemax 12.2. The volume pot is now slightly bent. Now it powers up but when I turn the volume there is just an occasional thud. My instinct tells me its not a major repair, perhaps the volume pot needs replacing - put I don't know. I LOVE this amp. Its by far the best I've had so Im very keen to have it repaired and by someone who is reliable and knows the technology (I had an amp sutured by a tinlkerer once) and don't want the experience again). Also I am poor (who isn't nowadays) and ideally I need it doing pretty quick (and its Christmas). So..... Any recommendations? Please help peeps!! M
  3. i got one and......... its 'kin great IMO! im using it with a genz benz 12,2. it takes a bit of tweaking and some of the controls are quite sensitive (move it a mm and the sound changes a lot) but all I reckon: a) I can get a better sound out of it than my K&K I can get a wider range of tones - a nice woody sound to a very 'electricy sound' c) It seems clearer over all d) it has a tuner - i have lost so many tuners on gigs (i recon over £120 worth of tuners over the years!) e: it has a phase on sub filter - which will help feedback fighting f) it doesn't have that horrible jack attachment that damages your strings (the k&k caused a strng to snap on a gig once when i first got it, i took off my k&k, assembled it and thought it sounded 'ok' but not much better than my k&k. i tweaked it for about 30 mins than put both pickups on the same bass and A/B'd them and ..... woah the shadow was WAAYYY better! I dont know why shadow are using that horrible video to promote it. Anyway, hope his helps
  4. noobie so thanks in advance! I'm trying to decide between genz benz shuttlemax 9.2 or 12.2. I play double bass mainly in pretty loud settings. There are situations where I switch between electric bass and Double bass.... hence liking the genz benz for the 2 channels. I currently have a burned out Eden head and 400w 4ohm 410 Eden cab. So Im thinking the 12.2 because it will put out 600w to my 4ohm cab (which should be ok for now as long as I don't push it). The thing is, I cant see many situations where I will need 1200w so perhaps the 9.2 is better... problem is it will put 900w into my 400w cab and I cant afford to get a new cab right now. further down the line yes... but I have gigs Ultimately, I don't want to be carrying around 2 cabs so.... if I wanted up 900w output I could get there with one cab (so most situations I will be fine with 9.2 head and 1 cab), whereas if I wanted anything over 600w with the 12.2 I will need 2 cabs. I play everything from pubs to 1500+ cap venues and festivals. Also... general thoughts on theses amps? read a lot of good stuff but there doesn't seem to be much info on the 12.2
