  1. how about the modern player jag? tasty basses.... tiny thin necks though, but i love my CIJ one..... and im a P man through and through. http://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-modern-player-jaguar-bass-black-maple/53369
  2. gotta admit tylers headstocks are terrible! the one on the JTV-69 guitar i have is particularly bad.... though the bass one on the 1st page is truly appalling. its almost enough to make me wanna switch necks for a nice maple board strat neck LOL
  3. I'm with tom like..... If those were maple I'd be on that white one like dog poo on an 80's street
  4. hi, well here is my issue guys..... i have just bought a new pre amp for my jag bass (artec se3p-a) and it has 2 stack pots (para mid, T/ B. now i am relocating the master vol and tone to the rollers and bypassing the (pre amp) blend pot just using the output from master controls and jumpering the pre amps volume pot (ouput from pre to ouput from pot, ground to ground) rather than having a pot for that (so its at full volume constantly, with master vol and tone being before the pre). now the issue i am having is i cant find any jazz bass style (plastic ones like j deluxe) stack knobs for the controls (in the UK), i can only find metal knurled ones. ebay only has ones in USA and shipping is almost as much as the knobs.... never mind customs and whatnot. and fender support on site keeps crashing before it lets me buy direct any one know where i can get some?
  5. oh its like a kubiki x factor will it be wood or is there any carbon fibre in that?
  6. gotta say like..... meh! i don't know, maybe the flakes are too large, or something.... i can only say im not impressed :/
  7. Omnomnomnomnom very nice. Loving the vibe off the P.. And the J looks like a proper MONSTER! I have a one of those Wilkinson Ps (5) in my Yamaha bbg5a but its more towards the neck very thumpy in that position and there is a MM at bridge on that one so its in good company I really like those Wilkinson pickups though.. I have a vintage tele set in my squire tele and they are ace
  8. I have used P+MM since about 1998 and its a killer combo. The MM is not in the sweet spot though so itbdoes not get the MM tone spot on.... ALONE... Mix in the P and its bang on the growl and thump you expect, more P adds more thump. Sandbergs passive mode (they have a glok made pre) in all truth sounds NO different than flat EQ so if you get stuck with a dud 9v mid gig you don't really loose anything by going passive. Also the necks ooohhh the necks.. Its a weird combo of late 60s shallow P and 70s J on width (my best description) but to me the neck feels like a P neck (probably the spacing making me think jazz). To anyone curious I'd really say find a dealer nearby and have a go (I went through guitarguitar).... I was swung the first time I played one... And the order went in a few months later for my 5 I only wish id asked for the vibration treatment with no aging (i just got standard gloss tobacco burst no relic), I know some people just claim snake oil but the vibrations kinda make sense to me....years worth of play time built into a fresh bass... Yes please.
  9. Very nice very much like my VM5 Gorgeous instruments, that head decal (back) is new since I got mine https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/t31.0-8/1909337_614359505311432_1419314460_o.jpg
  10. ok, i have a jag bass, and i ripped the guts out due to crappy stock pre. well i would love a glokenklang or a delano pre, but funds simply don't allow for it i have tried an artec in the past... and the only issue i had with it was the helpful battery low indicator (the pre squealed like a synth if you adjusted the pots if the battery was low... interesting and fun.... if annoying) well i have seen the artec SE3p, 3 band with sweepable mids on two stack pots.... handy for the jag bass.... as i can pop those and the circuit in the normal control plate part.... but i don't want a blend and ideally would like to keep the active passive option also... but as the schematic below shows the Vol is on the board. with some digging i have found the vol to be a standard 500k so passive 'should' be possible........ so the big Q is anyone good with electronics know if i could run a tone from the vol or manage to bypass it?
  11. Very nice! Love the colour maple board too mmm Cracking price.
  12. well here are my two just wish there was a 5 option tele style has stack knobs for vol/bass (custom pot probably) and treble/mid
  13. i had a look, and i think i may go for the delano sonar 3.... i can get the 25K stack pots for the pre easy enough if i want a stack pot for bass/treble with the mids on the 2nd pot, then have the passive master vol and tone on the scrolls with a true bypass switch (thanks to johnk on talkbass for the schematic ). woo now i just need to get the refin done...... well get the cash for the lot first
  14. Ooh thats a definite possibility if I can find an EU distributor, I got stung on the basslines eq I got from USA..... The import duty I was ready for, the £25 fee for the letter telling me I had to go collect it from a depot in a neighboring city :-/ was the kick in the teeth.
  15. I dont want a blend though.... The switching is what separates it from any old jazz. This is my issue, I just can't find a drop in EQ that is not hard wired master vol and blend. I switched out the pickups for basslines stacked vintages within months of getting it :-D Maybe a ray replacement would work? I have a bass with the basslines 3band with slap switch and it's a great pre..... I wonder I'd Seymour would do a version without the blend and master?
