1. Thanks Rubis, Not as tidy as I would have liked here and there. Next one will be tidier! Your own build was of much help. Thanks!
2. After some research and deep thinking I decided to build a cab based on the old B15 double baffle cabinets. It was a fun project and Im quite happy with the result. Maybe Ill make another and another and another... I used 18mm poplar plywood. A celestion bl15-300x driver. 3. I own and use a B15N regularly for small gigs and studio stuff. I also own a EBS T90 and Ampeg B25B. They all sound different but the EBS comes close if you have the right cabinet. Its a great amp.
4. I tried a bass at vintage guitar oldenburg which was listed as 100% original 1965 Jazz Sunburst. After a look over (and I'm not a Fender expert) I had a felling there was something not 'right' about it. They were asking €8900 I think for it. After it was gone and then reappeared for €6900 a few weeks later not sure why but Im guessing they realized something wasn't quite right as well. Anyway Im sharing this just to show that you can't know anything is 100% original because the market for vintage guitars is so crazy and unrealistic.
5.
The V4 & V4b IMO are VERY giggable if rather weighty. The B25 does for smaller gigs but and again IMO, sounds utterly sublime.
agreed! B25b is ridiculous when it comes to tone.
6. Brian sold me a great jazz bass. very easy transaction and arrived safe and on time.
7. Ive recently got my hands on a ampeg b25b and the tone is insane. Its got a little B15 mixed in with an SVT. When you drive it hard it sounds sooo nice!
8.
What cabs are you using it with. Im using epifani ul2x12 4ohm. Plus 5000 venues in a year is seriously impressive - what's that 13 gigs a day?!
9. After owning the T90 for about a year and using it it various situations I'm still impressed. Ive done +5000 venues with it and it kicks some serious s*#t. I don't think Ive even had it past 3 or 4 on the volume. Its way louder than my fender baseman 100 was for sure. ANd the DI is Great BTW!
10. I have this exact bass. They are amazing. Something about 2008. GLWTS.
11. less than a few other brands that were not nearly as well crafted. imho.
12. Pictures are on this link http://www.degierguitars.com/stocklist Its the Soulmate sunburst gold pick guard.
13. Just bought a De Gier Soulmate yesterday and wanted to right a review. The last few months Ive been struggling weather to buy an old Fender or go with a Custom Shop model. Ive tried many basses from pre-cbs to 70's to Custom Shop models and also a few Tokai's. They all had their positive and not-so-positive aspects to them. In the end I decided to go with the De Gier because as soon as I picked it up and played it I new that this was THE bass I was looking for. Light weight 1 piece alder body. Amazing wide and thin neck which feel very stable. Super resonant! More than any of the basses I tried. I put a set of well used flat wounds on and still the tone was clear and punchy everywhere on the fingerboard. Anyway I wanted to recommend trying one of these out if you can. Great basses! Cheers
