  1. Hi every one, We have recently formed a band and were doing practise about once a week. Our bassist only has a small 10 w bass amp which cannot be heard at all over the guitars and drums. However our drummer has an amp he uses for his electronic drum kit at his own house (not at practise) which is way louder than the small bass amp. Would it be safe to run a bass through the drum amp or would it damage the speakers? This is only a temporary set up with the bassist getting a new amp in about a month. Many thanks
  2. Hello , I have posted on this forum before with regards to buying my first bass guitar but now that my exams are over I am finally going to purchase one. I have a budget of about £400-480 to buy a bass and an amp. I am looking at a squire classic vibe precision bass because of the great reviews I have heard about it along with the maple fretboard (preference I have on guitars so I assume it will be the same on bass). This would only leave me with a budget of about £150 for an amp which I know isn't great (however if I waited a couple of weeks I could possible get an extra £100 but I really want to start playing asap). I play various types of music such as the arctic monkeys , the smiths, the kinks , RHCP etc along with small bits of punk and blues but very little classic rock and no metal. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a different bass or give a quick review about their experience with the classic vibe and also recommend an amp. Lastly I was just wondering that if it would be safe to run the bass amp and bass through the boss me 70 multi effects that I already have for my guitars just to try and tinker with the sound a bit. Many thanks in advance.
  3. Hello, I am relatively new to this forum and new to bass guitar. I'm a 16 year old guitar player who is looking to also learn bass guitar. I have been playing electric guitar for 2-3 years now and I am coming along quite well with it but I also want to learn bass. I am currently sitting exams so I am going to buy a bass as soon as my exams are over (mid-end of June). I listen to bands such as The Smiths, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Blur, The Kinks and a small bit of punk music. I have about £400 budget for a bass and an amp but I could exceed the budget a bit if necessary. The only preference I would have is that it has a maple fret board but this is not essential( preference in guitar so I presume I would prefer it on a bass also) I was looking at a classic vibe squire pbass and considering getting a crappy amp just to get things up and running until I can afford and better amp. I have no problems buying used equipment but the only problem being is that I live in Northern Ireland and people are usually reluctant to ship to here. Can anyone suggest and good bass and amp to buy within my budget. Thanks
  4. Hi everyone I am new to this forum and to bass guitar. I have been playing electric guitar for a couple of years and have a few fenders/gretschs and I am really enjoy it and have come along quite well. I have decided that I would also like to be able to play bass. Lots of the music I like is indie/indie rock (The Smiths , the Cure , The Arctic Monkeys) , mod music (The Jam, The Kinks , The who) and ocassionally some punk such as The Clash , SLF and The Sex pistols. I'd rarely be playing any metal or rock music ever. As I am only 16 my exams are coming up so I feel that it would be better to wait until summer to buy another instrument as I don't want it to distract me from my studies but I'm asking now so I can research the basses and decide which one suits me best. . I live in Derry in the north of Ireland so there isn't many places to try out basses. I have no problem going used as long as its in good condition. Can anybody suggest a decent bass and amp I could get for under £400. Thanks in Advance
