1.
Yip. It's a bureaucratic box-ticking exercise being exploited by some to squeeze a few quid out of people who don't know any better.
This.
2. 'Public Foot the Roman' were a regular feature of the college circuit in the late 70s. Great name.
3. Sympathetically restored 1963 Hofner Verithin serial no. 216. Neck straight and fretwork perfect. Finish has crazing and wear by the neck pickup consistent with the age of the instrument. Electrics completely overhauled. Non-original hardcase included. Offers sought in the region of £750. Sale only, no trades. Collection preferred (nr Kingston upon Thames) but delivery via courier can be arranged at cost.
4.
I can't remeber off the top of my head mate, i'm pretty sure it was 200W at 4ohms though
Definitely 200 into 4.
5. For sale (sorry no trades). Rick Turner Renaissance 4-string fretted bass. Built by the co-founder of Alembic, these basses are VERY hard to come by in the UK. This one was imported from Ed Roman’s shop in Las Vegas. It has never been gigged and is in pristine condition although it has seen light use in the studio so the Thomastic Acousticore strings (fitted as standard) could do with replacing. The full spec (along with better pics than mine) is available here - http://www.renaissan...rs.com/bass.php. Uploading pics here has defeated me but I do have pics to send via PM if required. I don’t have the original packaging and the instrument ships in a lightweight Levy gigbag. Consequently I’d prefer collection although I’m prepared to drive within a 50-mile radius of Slough. If you wish to arrange your own courier that would be fine. I’m looking for offers very close to £1250.00. Bass Central in Florida have a couple listed to give an indication to current prices. If you have any questions please ask!
6. Bass by name IS right. That's a 351 small-block bored out to 427. Still a small-block though. Ashdown's cheesy hotrod-style graphics remain naff.
7. Just relieved Jay of the Bravewood P-bass. Top bloke and a pleasure to do business with (alhough I think you were mad to sell it). Good luck with the 'Woodworm Hilton'!
8. Pricey - but anywhere with New Kings Road rent and rates to pay isnt going to be offering any bargains.
9.
Also puzzled to see 1119 listed as Alan Spenner of Voice Squad / Jim Capaldi ... I thought he was strictly Roxy Music at that time, and I didn't know he'd played with Capaldi. I've never heard of Voice Squad (? Vice Squad, maybe).
A bit off-topic I know but the Voice Squad were principally Frankie Collins, Dyan Birch and Paddy McHugh - originating in the Liverpool band Arrival and subsequently the voices in Kokomo (hence Spenner) and countless London sessions. Pure class.
10. Last week - ordered online and received the strings next day as usual. I've never had a problem. (But I've never tried emailing them.)
