1. I have a S.U.B. STERLING RAY 4 by Musicman and one of the knobs (the treble) the knob has become loose and does not turn aswell. The control is very loose but working. Nothing out of ordinary happened, just noticed it the other day. Can I fix it? If so, how? Can a shop or guitar shop?
2. I have a S.U.B. STERLING RAY 4 by Musicman, if I wanted to upgrade the pick-up what choices do I have? Which ones sound great? Which ones sound crap? I'm looking for the classic musicman sound...I am guessing since S.U.B is an affordable bass the pickup is also affordable and that there are better ones out there.
3. Wow, nice. Someone is a fan of maple. I can see why you call yourself Stingray Pete.
4. I like the white. But walnut satin is the best in my opinion. mnach and stingraypete, lets have at look at your bass.
5. Yeah I meant the finishes such as the satin colours like blue, red, walnut on the S.U.Bs . On ray34 vintage cream, mint green with rosewood. On ray35 with the cool circular plate instead of the usual 5 string plate (which I don't like). And the bridges seem bigger on the ray4 and ray 34 series than on SOME stingrays. There are all nice. I don't think many stingrays have those colours.
6. Wow, that looks really cool. I prefer S.U.Bs look over Stingrays. It would be cool if they sold them without pickguards and you could buy one separate, if you wanted one and attached it yourself.
7. Wow, nice! What does it look like without a pickguard. I'd imagine even more beautiful.
8. Yeah it does look great except the holes where the screws were. And the fact it is two slightly different shades from where the pickguard was. Thanks for the suggestions.
9. I have a bass that was once all over matte black. After playing it for years some of the matte finish has come off. What is the best way to repaint all of it? Just the parts that have faded? Where would I buy the paint and how do you do it? Any tips or advice? Cheers, Harry.
10. I have a S.U.B version, although it is not perfect and needed some adjustments. It is a cheaper version of the CA. The tone, playability, build quality and look is unbeatable at the price range. Looking online 3/4 of people absolutely love them, the other 1/4 got put off by some small (and fixable) problems.
11. I just tried it and it looks stunning but I noticed scratches on the pickguard and I hold the pickguard when plucking the E, so for me back on it went. And pickguard does make it look better.
12. Because my tools are with a friend. Let's have a look antnee...
13. Anyone got pictures of a S.U.B Sterling Walnut Satin bass 4 string without pickguard? I'm thinking about taking mine off, I wanna see what it looks like. Cheers, Harry.
14. Hey guys, yeah the short story I tried it and it worked! Thank you. Long story, I moved the E side on the pickup down towards the body and the bass loss its accidental feature of being slightly distorted on maximum volume. Which I kinda liked, so using my logic I raised the E to its original setting and G side even higher. And now the bass has an even volume across the strings and slight distortion all across the strings giving it a sort of Tim Commerford like sound without a pedal. Which if I turn volume down to 8 its completely undistorted. Sweet!
