1. Bit of an old topic this but tried my VBA with another cab and it sounds fantastic so the problem lies with the cab. I took it all apart tonight and all the wiring and speakers look perfect. Any ideas anyone? Thanks
2. I have a homemade cab with a new Celestion BN15-400S speaker fitted. Playing a Marshall VBA 400 and it sounds phenomenal.
3. I'm relatively new to bass playing and just discovered something. If you crank the amp right up and just have the levels at 15% on the guitar the sound is fantastically warm, smooth etc etc. I've always had the vol on the guitar on full. Was it just me that didn't know this? 😳
4.
Probably a duff pre-amp valve. I had a VBA for a while, immense volume and great tone. The weight was the final straw hoewver.
Thanks Guys. Can you recall what yours was like with the gain control? Was it still loud set at only a 1/4 gain? Having not heard one working properly I have no idea what it's meant to be like. Thanks
5. Just picked up a used VBA400 and VBC412. Both in great condition but when I played with it at a gig the sound was awful. Very hollow and distorted. With the gain on 25% there's hardly any volume. Turn it up to 75% and it's worse. Hit the deep button and it sounds worse still, all mushed up with no clarity. So disappointed. Must be something wrong as these amps are supposed to be among the best. I just want a deep warm sound with the occasional crunch. Any ideas fellow owners? Thanks Mark
