  1. IMHO the GK heads sound better with GK cabs. It's only a matter of taste. did you try a GK 212 neo? I really enjoyed this cab as a stand alone, even under 8 ohms.
  2. I can hear mine 2 rooms away (at a distance of almost 10 meters -32 feet if I'm right). Most of the heads I 've had up to this one were not noise free but their fan never bothered me (gallien 700 rbII, aguilar th500, Markbass tte). I have not rehearsed with it yet but at home the fan is simply too noisy. I think I'll get it changed for a silenx. Otherwise this head is really a great piece of gear, the sound is amazing. The gain knob at 12 the sound gets rich and thick, past 14 you begin to get an overdriven sound. But I do not really appreciate the overdriven sound of a preamp pushed at this point (whatever the amp, exept the th 500 maybe), I prefer to use a pedal effect.
  3. Just got mine today, I 'll try it more thoroughly tomorrow. The low end is incredible, it is really dynamic, and powerfull! My only concern is with the fan which is a way too loud! I'll tell you if i can drive it.
  4. Thanks, one of the videos which decided me to buy this head. Thick and tubey sound! Mine is on the way, I hope the french mail service won't screw up!
  5. I was almost ready to buy this little beast as a back up to my chillbass tube amp, but what I read about burning condos frightened me. Did some of you have such problem?
  6. The gallien spirit with some tubes inside. If it had the same low end as the 700 rbII, it would be a perfect head!
  7. According to me gallien krueger makes very reliable amps, which for their price can compete with more expensive amps in terms of quality and sound. Otherwise aguilars are worth the price you pay for them.
  8. The mb 500 is a small beast which can get close to the 700 rb tonewise. Warm and precise low end, growlly low mids, cristal clear highs. Concerning the cabs, maybe you should wait for the new cx cabs which according to gallien techs seem to sound warmer than the neos, but I don't know if they are lighter than your cabs.If you want something light The 212 neo is a nice cab, really very punchy, with a great projection, very precise, but it sounds more modern than the sbx series, with less warmth.
  9. Hi, I had excatly the same rig, don't change anything! The 700rb is imo the best sounding gallien head, with huge and precise lows, and it won't be as easy to get that growly tone with another gallien head (the 500 mb can get near). The sbx cabs are the perfect match (if you exept the bulky rbh cabs), they can handle the lows better than the neo series, and they sound warmer. The neos are more reactive and precise. I have a fusion 550 but I steel miss my 700rbII.
  10. Hi! I'm 45 years old, but I'm a young bassist since i've been playing for 5 years. Bass has always been my favorite instrument. I play mostly rock'n roll or metal, but I listen to all kind of music. My favorite bass players are john paul Jones, Pino palladino, stanley clarke, Marcus Miller, flea... Here is my rig: Fender Roscoe beck, fender precision road worn. Chillbass 100 tube amp, chillbass 212 standard, gallien krueger fusion 550. Effects: Sadowsky bass preamp, darglass vintage, b3k and duality fuzz. Mxr comp. When I don't play the bass I usually ride my mountain bike or go kayaking on the sea. That's all folks!
