1. Bass player, 40s, Wirral Based. Pro gear and transport. 30 years gigging/function experience. BVs and good attitude. 100% committed. Looking for working wedding/function band or working pub band.
2. I tried the Zero-Mod thumb rest but didn't like the position- too clise to neck
3. Hi. Recently got myself a Rick. I've never used a pick and don't intend to start now. I was struggling to find where to put my fingers. Felt uncomfortable at the bridge and the neck. So today I have taken off the pick up guard to reveal razor sharp edges on the bass plate. I am trying to play it waiting to chop my finger off. Are there any Rick players that can advise before I throw a 2.5k bass at the wall? Thanks, Lee
4. You're right about Merseyside musicians... we all know each other and have played together at some stage
5. Thanks Len. But I couldn't go through starting a new band again. I must have a share in 25 PAs lol. I need a working established band. I did think about facebook but everyone can see your business on there
6. Hi all . I'm desperate to get back in a band but can't find a decent site to b!tch myself out. If you look at the front page of this site, none of the adds get replies. Probably bassists looking at bassists. Join my band is full of window shopping time wasters and Bandmix and most of the others charge you to talk to someone. Any advice? Lee. Bassist- Merseyside
7. Bass Player 47. Own teeth. Has a much younger mind and likes playing new stuff. Looking for working covers/function/tribute band. No metal, blues or jazz. 100% commited. Transport and good gear. Some BVs.
8. Experienced bass player 46 looking for function/wedding band playing POP covers. Committed like you wouldn't believe. Good set learner, transport, free every evening and weekend, likes to have a laugh, some backing vocals and good with the crowd. Wirral based.
9. Hi, I am thinking of adding an extra cab to my Mark Bass COMBO as I am not getting the volume I need. Any ideas what type of cab I should be getting? Lee
10. Great advice guys. I'm not sure my amp would fit on a chair-maybe a couch! I think Discreet has hit a good point. I have adjusted my mids and its sounded sh*t (in isolation) but I’ve never tried with the rest of the band. I need to give that a try. PS: Is it just me that finds typing on here difficult?????? Keeps missing letters
11. I went to see Counting Crows for the fourth time 2 weeks ago. Never heard the bass all night.
12. Hi Guys, This is my first post so be gentle with me I am in a covers bad (pubs and weddings) and I am having some sound issues. To put it simply, I cannot hear myself over the other band members (guitar lead and drums). I am currently using a 400W Mark Bass Combo which should be well loud enough for the gaffs we play. My bass is an Ibanez BTB Active pick-ups. I tried buying a new bass (Fender Jazz Passive) but it was a lot quieter. I have just purchased a Mark Bass Booster pedal and had it permanently on and it still didn’t hit the spot. I have adjusted my setting a million times. I play with my fingers and never use a plec. I don’t know if it is a volume issue or a clarity issue but it’s cheesing me right off! We don’t/can’t have bass bins on the PA because we don’t have the transport capacity for them. I have been advised NOT to add another cab onto my current set-up as that won’t fix the problem. Do I buy a bigger amp? What is the answer? Please help. Lee
