1. Played my first gig with a new band last night. Having not played a gig for over 6 months I was really looking forward to it. Rock covers from 60s to now. The venue was outdoors. First set went really well and then it started to rain during the break and ended up being washed out. Punters were enjoying it, the band was having fun and sounding good. Stupid weather.
 2.
Tuxguitar will read guitar pro and is free
Was about to suggest the same. Excellent program
 3.
I would happily overplay if I could be as good as Jamerson
Fair point. I wish I had his ability too, I prefer simple understated lines with some fills. That doesn't mean just sitting on the root or anything lines can be melodic without being overly busy
 4.
Bwa-ha-ha-haaaahhhh!!! You MUST be trolling. You must be.
Not trolling. It is just my opinion. I am not saying that he wasn't a great player (he obviously is), just that his lines were often busier than they needed to be
 5.
http://www.rollingst...y-life-20160125
Thanks for the link
 6. I prefer Stax not that there wasn't great music that came out of Motown. Duck Dunn's playing grooves like a groovy thing from the planet Groovy but I feel that Jamerson overplays a lot of the time.
 7. Queen released a number of great albums n the 80s including The Works, The Miracle, A Kind of Magic and the Game. The Stones also had some great albums including Emotional Rescue, Tattoo You, Undercover and Dirty Work
 8.
Much better than the original IMHO.
Not sure about that but it was definitely better than when Annie Lennox did it at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert
 9. Gail Ann Dorsey has a magnificent voice. Always knew she was a great bass player but man can she sing. https://www.youtube....h?v=d5nYX-iuUFk
 10. For me, I would love to gig as often as possible but Mrs rjs1909 tells me I don't have the time. In fact, she tells me I don't have the time to be in a band at all
 11.
Are you saying Freedie Mercury was a technically great singer...or not?
Yes, Freddie Mercury was a technically great singer
 12.
Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more. I think Bons voice is great. He had amazing range and the best of all, his voice was unique
I love Bon's singing but he is not a technically great singer like Freddie Mercury was (for example) but what he did do was bring charisma, wit and charm to his vocals that very few have been able to do
 13.
Look at Jimi Hendrix or Bob Dylan. They got away with rubbish voices. It's all about projecting what you have.
Or Bon Scott, by no means a technically great singer but used inflection well. He was sleazy in a song like "Can I sit next to you, girl?" and menacing in a song like "Dirty Deeds"
