  1. You won't get much better than these: Soul Vendors - Swing Easy Lynn Tait and The Comets - Storm Warning Maroon Town - Fire New York Ska Jazz Ensemble - Filthy Mc Nasty, and Buttah
  2. I've been playing in a Reggae/Ska band for yonks. If it's Ska then mainly your playing Rock 'n' Roll Bass lines. For Reggae what you don't play is as important as what you do play, leave holes, particularly on the first beat of a bar (though not all the time) and don't be afraid to stop playing for a whole bar or 2 occasionally. Most important if you don't like Reggae or haven't heard much then you won't be able to make a decent fist of it.

    Evening all

I joined the forum today. 60 years old from Dover. I play in a Reggae/Ska band call Hey Rudi. My gear is a Classic 25 played through an Ampeg SVT micro amp and matching Ampeg 2 X 10 cabinet or at larger gigs a Behringer BX450 ultrabass Head and same 2 X 10 cabinet with the addition of a Harley Benton 2 X 12, back up Bass is a Shine. I reckon the classic 25 bass, Ampeg head and cabinet weigh less than the Behringer head alone.
  4. I bought one a few months ago after I kept getting cramp in my hand when using my old long scale bass, which was a disaster as i had to stop playing mid song. I thought I'd buy a bass with the shortest scale I could find. It's great, no more hand problems. It sounds really good and comes with a nice hard case. Takes a bit of getting used to when I have to get up the dusty end and aesthetically not ideal for a reggae band. I would recommend them.
