1. I forgot to add.....anyone 'still' considering this bass also needs to be made aware of the nigh on base-jumping realms of neck dive....gravity loves that headstock with those generic high-mass tuners. I have it on a sheepskin-backed suede strap, so it does at least stay put. Forget about a nice lightweight polyprop/nylon strap, it will be ground-bound as soon as you let go of the neck 🤨
2. Cheers for the input 'all'....the string spacing is 20mm at the bridge and the nut is 38mm. I've also only just notice that the generic, Ashdown picture doesn't even have the same pickup showing. The case on the actual pickup is polished chromed mild steel, with no exposed pole pieces. I went with the Retrovibe replacement as it's almost a shoe-in and also happens to be a blade type alnico...which 'should' negate the issue with the E volume. I'm also wishing I had just gone and ordered a 30" scale bass from Dave Konig....as he has a few on his website and I was seriously impressed with his 'Stinger' pre-amp....hey ho.
3. I have just acquired a short scale 'Ashdown Capri' in pink....not something I thought I would ever do (the pink I mean), but I 'ummed' and 'arred' over a Squier Rascal and then missed it. The Capri has a great neck, no fret-sprout, good soldering, full sized pots....and a lousy pickup 😕 Anyhoo....the E string is much quieter than the AD & G. I reckon it is a degaussed magnet issue. I'm so tired of it I'm actually going to replace the pup with a toaster-style 12K 'bucker from Dave Konig at Retrovibe (lovely bloke, I have one of his 'Stinger' pre-amps; an homage to the pre EB Music Man pre-amp and it's a stellar performer in my GB44). SO, just a heads up and to ask if anyone else has had this issue ? I'm currently running pyramid-648's on it, but that low-volume E is a real PITA. (yes I have tried raising the pickup under the E...it helped a little, but not sufficiently to bring it into line with the other 3)
4. I don't know why SIRE didn't just use the Leo Quan-BadAss replica 'Omega-Bridge'. I mean, if CORT can afford to put one on my GB74-GIG (along with the now de-riguer Hipshot Ultralites; for a measly £380 in UK)....surely Sire can....As alluded to by other commentators, it appears 'Dame' use upgraded hardware...so...why not Sire? just my two cents.....I'd like a V7 BTW...in Ash ;-)
5. It's an BB404, the BBN4 doesn't have the chamfer on the lower horn. Looks identical to mine, with the exception of the frets If it plays anything like mine it's a lovely bass well worth £80 imho, GLWTS.
6.
Great score! These are killer basses for the cash, I literally sold tons of them back when they came out as I worked for a Cort dealer. If memory serves me right, they were £179 back then, which is about £269 these days. Enjoy!
Hey, thanks 'Chiliwailer'. I've wanted a single bucker bass ala G&L 'wunkay' ....I just don't have G&L 'affordability' right now ;-) The pickup on the Cort GB44 is HUGE as is the MM style bridge, even if the latter is just screwed straight into the wood-body. Just waiting for the soldering iron to warm up and then put the 'Stinger' pre-amp in. I think I'll clean and oil the neck too, it's a little dirty and polish the frets while I'm at it before the new strings go on, then plug her in and see how she sounds I might drop the 'Spector' pre-amp which came out of this Cort into my fretless....

8.
Saw that and nearly put a bid in - was watching for a week Passed it up for a fretless 5-string that appeared a few days ago that should be here Friday. Enjoy the Cort - looked like a lovely bass.
I'm gad you found a 'fiver' to bid on 'anzoid', I did use an auction-sniper with a £100 limit, as I thought it was at least worth a 'ton', ended up getting it for the £75 opening-bid, so very happy
9. I like it as it's 'light', small bodied (basswood). Just about to drop David Konig' "Stinger" pre-amp in it and have just snipped the wires for the 'stock' pre-amp, thought I would have a quick look over it and it has 'Spector' printed on it? Can anyone shed any thoughts as to why this would have a Spector pre-amp? I know that Cort did fit a few 'Fishman' pre's to some of their basses....odd
10. Well...it was marketed by Cort as 'trans-blue, but it's more like sea-green. I know it doesn't exist without pics, but being a fussy-tog, pics will have to wait until tomorrow Saw it sitting there on 'evil-bay' looking all sad & lonely, threw a low bid at it and won for £75. Hasn't seen much use by the look of it. Big fat 'Mighty-Mite' bucker, MM style 'chunky' bridge with strung-thru' option, off-set abalone 'type' dots, black hardware and made in Korea 2001. Pics of my actual bass to follow....
11. Just picked up a 'Stinger' 2 band EQ from David at ProBass. Lovely chap to deal with, only down the road from me so I thought pop-over and meet him and 'pick' his brains too. Looks like I could also be getting my 'grubbies' on a beautiful amber-trans EVO towards the end of the year Anyway, highly recommended, lovely bloke, very knowledgeable too. 12. Done, thanks 'Roland Rock' for the heads-up.
13. Just a heads-up really. I contacted Mike at 'Amploft' Re: fixing my little Trace Elliot BLX head. He only had it a week and it's back and sounding as it should (insert sarcastic comment anyone ;-) Thoroughly nice chap, kept me fully informed all the way and he plays bass He is based in Bristol and I wanted somewhere close that wasn't one of these places that take your gear and then farm it out to someone else, I couldn't be happier with the service, so consider 'Amploft' well and truly 'plugged'.
