Hey, I've just seen this old thread and thought I'd add some thoughts. First of all I read a lot of people finding the cost of a new Wal from £3200 as too high. They now start from £5300. I play a Mk1 fretless 4 string. I bought it second hand around 1990 for £800, which was a lot then. At the time I played an american Precision, which was a great bass but once I had the Wal the Fender just sat in it's case. In the end I sold it. I probably should have held onto it just for its investment value but it wouldn't have got played. As for the Wal I just love it and haven't played anything else since. I so often get comments from people about its sound, both other musicians and just ordinary punters who don't have any idea what a Wal is. Interestingly sound engineers love it! Cheers, Ian

I'm not really interested in effects, other than maybe a compressor, as I only play with a clean sound. This tends to put me off them a bit.

Hi Folks, [color=#141414][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][size=3] [indent]I need to replace my GK MB150S which after 25 years has reliability issues. I may get it repaired but nonetheless intend to replace it. My budget won't run to replacing it with the same but I do want to retain portability and good sound. I generally play in a church setting for which the MB150S has been ideal. I usually DI it to the desk and use the amp for monitering. I'm tempted by the GK MB112-II or maybe a MB115-II but would be interested in any feedback from users of these amps, particularly the difference in sound from them. Also any other recommendations.
