  1. I managed to find a version of the above song to listen to which had a much fuller sound, and I have pretty much figured out all I need to from it. Thanks to anyone who may have taken the time look at it for me. If you have any input, feel free to share as I am still very much a novice, and any help I can get is always welcome.
  2. I'm not sure if this is the right area to post this, but I was wondering if someone could help me with the tab for Don't touch my Willie by Kevin Fowler. One of the guitarists in the band I have joined is an American and he asked me to learn some country, he thought this would be a good song to start with. I agree, it's not that complicated, but I am very new to playing the bass. I only started 3 months ago and I haven't played any kind of instrument before (well, not since primary school anyway). I think I have the verses sorted, but I can't quite figure out what is going on in the chorus. I've looked for tabs, but can't find any on the interweb, so I'm trying to figure it out from a very tinny live performance on Youtube. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
  3. As a side note. I didn't know what the acronym GAS stood for until just now. It tickled me, I think I am beginning to develop that condition.
  4. Thanks guys, I think my mind is made up. I will have a look at what is available when I get home as I don't want to take either of my basses on an aircraft with me unless I absolutely have to.
  5. I'm in my 30's and I first picked up a bass 3 months ago. I instantly fell in love with becoming a bassist. I practice almost everyday, probably more than I should on some days. The thing is, I work in the Middle East for 5 months at a time and only have 4 weeks at home before I have to come back here. The first bass I bought was in the Middle East and it was a cheap Chinese copy of a Fender Jazz, as that was all that was available. I have just received my sparkly new Yamaha 5 string which I ordered from the States. I'm still getting to grips with the Yamaha, but it sounds so much better. So, the question is......Should I buy another bass to practice on at home? Is 4 weeks too long to be away from the instrument? Will it be like starting from scratch after 4 weeks away? If I do buy another bass at home, should I bother spending money on another cheapy? I'm going home at the end of this month, and I don't want to lose the (very few) skills I have worked so hard learn over the last few months. What do you think I should do?
