Hi there folks,
long time lurker first time poster here.
Sorry if TMI, looking to avoid you having to ask more Q's initially
Looking for help & some direction from you informed folks on what's hot & what's not.
Reading a lot of contrasting views on lower market compression.
Not really looking to mess the floor with another pedal, I want reasonably high-end compression to go in the rack. Looking to make the investment to begin with.
Want something that's got good selection of knobs to twiddle & a few thumbs up in it's direction
Budget range 500-800 could probably be talked into higher if it's truly worth the extra squids.
Seems a bit silly to go mad on this when my ampage ain't all that thou
But.. a decent compressor is a decent compressor eyh.
bit of background;
Usually playing Ibanez BTB 6 through Hartke LH500, with Hartke 4x10 cab.
Mostly for playing some variant of metal, I guess 'technical' to a degree.
Sometimes using Darkglass b7k (Still getting used to dialling it in mind) & Boss ME50b for reverb & chorus.
In band I play the same "drop B" tuning as the guitarists, BF#BEAD
Also fiddle about in GCGFGC
N.B need it for live, not studio
I use a variety of techniques, hasty swaps between slap & finger, hammer-finger(ish), lots of dead notes, few thumb rakes, three-digit fingering - it needs some serious smoothing for the ears to be happier
But I still need percussive edge of dif. techniques to come through & for it to be clear enough to punch out from the deep end between two distorted-up & downtuned guitarists.
I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to bass gear, so help me out folks
The waffles are done! Give us the blueberries & syrup
What are the names to be considering?
