1. Haha - I see a Rocky style training montage in my head My band cannot be described as laid back - it's a different thing trying to get your hands around the neck of the eub and get your fingers around a bunch of fret positions... Good fun though, just a different vibe. And I love the sound of it too. We have little touches of jazz and the EUb sets that off really nicely. Plus, I borrowed a bow and ran it through a distortion pedal, and it sounded just awesome Andy
  2.
No idea, don't care why I'm planning a whole quiet wedding dep gig on it next Friday .. I'll take a EBG too in case of extreme arm fatigue but upright all night is the plan
Have to admit - we only did 30 mins and I was struggling with the arm fatigue - don't envy you the full night - good luck Andy
  3. I've just gotten into the EUB thing - had a similar dilemma with what to buy, was lucky enough try the palatino and the stagg. Bought the stagg - found that the tone was nicer and needed much less mucking about to get it to sound like double bass. My only complaint has been with trying to bow - Stagg say it's possibe but the bridge isn't differentiated enough to let you do it easily. Still, nice tone, easy to play. Would highly recommend it. Andy
  4.
Just wondered ... for research, like ... did a bunch of women in the audience tell you how much they liked the stand up bass?
Yes they did - bizarre that - it went down really well with the fairer sex. The feedback was generally really good anyway, but the ladies loved it... any idea why? I have a sudden compulsion to play it more frequently Andy
  5. First outing of the Stagg went really well - just stuck to two tracks, but they went down really well, sounded awesome through the markbass head too... Andy
  6. ....I don't have a hat though, I'm clearly not adequately prepared Andy
  7. New EUB, reckon I've just about learned how to play a couple of songs on it, gonna break it out for the first time in front of people that aren't in my band.... Little nervous, but in a good way Andy
  8.
yup - and another one. Tried it in the shop - no worries - got it home - tuner out, hmm bit flat - PING. So that's how they get the price down!! Took Andy's advice and gone for the "mid-market" priced Astrea strings until I get to use this for gigs. Bob...
Mine was fine - actually that's a complete lie - someone snapped it in the shop - they replaced the set of strings with a decent set and I've never looked back Andy

    Hello...
Welcome mate. There are a bunch of us discovering that size does matter when it comes to the Stagg. The score is 4 reds to one black at the minute I think. You will find this a great site. Check out the Stagg threads on the EUB forum. See you there
Haha - love that picture - I need to find me a girl that wears one Yeah, I'm really enjoying the stagg, the snob in me says I shouldn't, but it sounds great and plays so smoothly... I kind of figured it would be an intro to EUB and I'd trade up if I was into it, but it does feel ridiculously comfortable as an instrument... Andy

    Hello...
Hi Andy - remember me? I played bass in Part III: The Onslaught with some tit named Mark!!! Glad you found us. I love your music, I will come and see a show soon and catch up with you all. Cheers ped
Alright mate! How are you? Yeah come see us - in fact, we're recording in a couple of weeks - come down and have some fun - in fact if memory serves you're a lot better than me - you can play my bass parts for me Andy
  11. Solid state or valve... it's a tough one - I've always used solid state and never really found the sound I've wanted - the last disaster was an Ampeg B5R which was juuuuust rubbish. Just come into a bit of money - so I spent it all and bought an Ampeg SVT2 monster. Sounds absolutely lovely, but is somewhere in the region of the heaviest thing in the world. Got rid of the old ampeg B5R and bought a markbass LM2 as a spare amp, and this sounds lovely too, with the bonus of being able to lift it with one hand... it's quite conflicting On the whole I think I prefer the sound of the Ampeg, but I also dread the potential impact on my lumbar region.... I can't help but think I'll be trading weight for tone... Andy

    Hello...

Hello all - just thought I'd introduce myself... I'm Andy, play for this bunch of rapscallions - www.myspace.com/evenflowerskill - all sorts of noises, from harsh and noisy through to occasional bursts of loungy jazz. Keeps me interested, any way I play through an Ampeg SVT2Pro premiere into a Bagend 4x10 and an ampeg 4x10, I've just bought a Markbass LM2 for those occasions when I can live without all valve goodness, and would rather not move what feels like the equivalent weight of a small house. Bass wise I kind of move between a warwick corvette proline and a musicman sterling depending on my mood, although I have another warwick streamer knocking around somewhere and a custom made fretless. Just bought a very cheap Stagg (yeah yeah - don't judge me!) EUB to see if I fancy a bit of that action - actually really enjoying it - pretty much the most fun I've had standing up in ages. Aaaaanyway, that's me. Good to meet you all Andy
