Total Watts

  1. Had it for a few years, never used it. Rare Trace Elliot GPA-160S, dual/stereo 80W solid state 19" amp (2U height). Drop me a PM when interested.
  2. I own a few TE amps. AH300, RAH600SMX, Hexa Valve, V-Type V4 and V-Type V8.... also Marshall 3530 (ex-No Means No), Ampeg SVT CL, Weber MyWatt 400, Hiwatt DR201 and Hiwatt DR103. So there's something to compare. I only use the Ampeg SVT810, so differences are purely due to the amps themselves. To be honest, nothing beats the TE V-Type amps if you ask me. Others might think different, but hey... everyone is different. The V4 is 220W and is by far the best sounding amp. The V8 sounds detailed but fat, monstrous and loud. Very loud. Sometimes too loud. Most of the time, I switch to half power (200W instead of 400W). My advise: if you can find one, buy the V-Type. The significance of details vanishes when you flip the switch. Second choice : Quatra or Hexa (Twin Valve might be a bit under powered). Best of both worlds, solid state pre-amp and tube power section. My last choice : Ampeg SVT CL. 4. Next year it's the 40 year anniversary of Never Mind The Bollocks. A great opportunity to build a tribute bass from parts scattered around in my shed. Just a little patience, parts and messing up/starting all over again... Like it? Working on another rosewood neck with matched headstock color.

  6. Hi all, I'm new to this forum and I hope to pickup ideas, help others with my knowledge of electronics (and DIY repairs) and have some fun! I play plectrum only and since the late 80's I played in lots of bands, primarily loud. Rock, Wave, Punk, Stoner.... Gear? Too much to mention. I'll grab the most important pieces: - Fender Precision Sunburst 1974 - Fender Jazz Sunburst 1973, block inlay - Fender Jazz Bass Special, 1987 - Fender Precision 70's Sunburst & Olympic White w/ block inlay - Tokai Hard Puncher 1984 - Tokai VSB80 (ex-Rob Wright - No Means No) - Music Man Stingray 4, 1991 - Rickenbacker 4003, 2000 - G&L L-2000, 2005 - Several Fender Precisions MIM, MIJ and USA 1990-2012), some of them upgraded with SD QuarterPounds and Hipshot Detuner Amps - Trace Elliot RAH600SMX (2x) - Trace Elliot AH300 (2x) - Trace Elliot V-Type V8 - Marshall IBS 3530 (ex-Rob Wright - No Means No) - Hiwatt DR103 (Biacrown era) - Ampeg SVT CL, blue logo Cabs - Trace Elliot 1048 - Trace Elliot 1248 - Ampeg SVT810E (2x) - Marshall 1984 cab And much more....
  7. Hi V8 lovers, I created a FaceBook page for the V8 to share info, solve problems or simply see some great photo's of V8's around the globe. If you're an owner, please post your serial number and I'll create a registry. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Trace-Elliot-V-Type-V8/1615664865344974 Cheers, Robert
