Total Watts

 1. 895 highest. Seems it works on the release of the mouse button not the press, not ideal for timing.
 2.
You don't get left handed violins. You do get left handed guitars. That confuses me.
Yea I don't get left handed screwdrivers and stuff neither. I'm a lefty, you learn to adapt. (I play right handed instruments).
 3.
Too many people listen to music with their eyes, rather than their ears. They see an instrument and have a preconceived idea regarding what it's function or sound is going to be, or should be.
Well said.
 4. Do bassists want to hear bass solos? I'd say there are lots of bassists that would want to hear bass solos. Depends on the person's particular taste. No different to any other musician. The whole "Bass should never be a solo instrument" is a valid opinion for someone to have I suppose but bass can and has been used effectively in a solo context. Whether someone likes it or not isn't going to change that and saying you haven't heard a good one is completely subjective to a person's taste. As a rule I tend to not like 10 minutes of blazing up and down the scales for no reason other than "look at me" on any instrument, but if the mood of a song calls for an interlude or solo lead by a bass then go for it. Granted there doesn't tend be as many places that it's needed compared to piano / keyboard or guitar but that doesn't mean it should be non existent or overlooked.
 5. Right oh, shall keep an eye out then.
 6.
Welcome! I'm another South Wales bassist here! I'm from Neath. We have meet ups occasionally in Cardiff and Swansea, you'll have to pop to the next one!
Hi, Sounds good. I'll keep an eye out for it. Any coming up soon?
Maesteg, small world.
Yeah, I lived there for a year or so. Managed to escape though hehe
 7. Ahh not too far then. My better half is from Maesteg.
 8. Thanks all, appreciate the warm welcome. What part of South Wales are you in Funk? I'm just outside of Pontypridd. I'll let you know when I'm playing again, gotta find a new band first hehe. Richy.
 9.
Yeah, dives can be rough but also a lot of fun. You will never hear the " I'm to good to Play dives " line from me. Just doesn't make sense.
Completely agree, some of the most fun gigs I've ever done have been in the back end of nowhere. Hell I am from the back end of nowhere who am I to say I'm too good to play My local hehe. I've seen bands play 'dives' that just get on with it and have a laugh and I've seen bands play that think they are too good to be there, the later never goes down well and I very rarely see any problems happen for bands that treat these places like normal gigs.
 10. Hey guys, Hope you're all good. I'm fairly new to bass itself, played guitar since I was about 9 (I'm 31 now) but developed osteoarthritis in my thumb about a year back which screws up prolonged chord use. Either way I had a light bulb moment and realised it didn't affect my lead playing and by proxy I could play bass. Hardly touched the guitar since, full on convert now and loving it hehe. Thankfully a lot of the muscle memory was transferable from guitar to bass so the learning curve has been way way way quicker but I also realise it's a totally different instrument so made myself go back to basics and build from there just to get rid of as many bad habits as possible and pick up nice little things that I would have missed if I had done the "Bass is just a guitar with 4 strings" thing I've seen so many times. As far as musical taste goes, I started out as a pure metal head all those years ago, woke up a bit since then and I'll pretty much listen to anything now. Still mostly blues or rock though. As a rule of thumb I'll call anything a good song as long as it is indeed a good song, regardless of whether it's my taste or not. I'm currently playing a Peavey Grind BXP (active) through a Warwick BC300. Will be acquiring more as soon as the wife lets me spend again . No stranger to live or studio performing, I'm not really expecting much difference from guitar (as far as live goes) other than I won't be the centre of attention any more . Currently in a band that I've been with for about 10 years but I'll likely be packing that in and venturing to greener pastures, still undecided on a project as of yet. Just found this site a few days ago to be honest had a little read and I liked it. Hopefully I can bring something to the mix. Anyway I've rambled enough for now, speak soon. Richy.
