1. P.S. Shortly I shall be away for the weekend, communication to be resumed on Monday.
2. Thank you Sambrook for your nice feedback. In April 2017, a year or so after getting your (4-string) fretless Rikkers, I found in the same 'Basses for Sale' forum the good 5-string fretted bass I had been looking for... I would like its seller to write here a few words describing a transaction that in ny opinion was also very satisfactory... But he seems not to visit these pages very frequently. Let us wait and see, and in the meantime I will try to get used to the extra neck width! Cheers
3. What an excellent bass! Those with bigger hands than mine should definitely take this one into account. That string spacing is too much for me... GLWTS!
4. One more tempting bass from Sambrook... right after my Rikkers! This time I will not be able to accept the offer, but... I look forward to seeing more of that new Maruszcyk fretless. Where? Good luck to both seller and bold explorers of the 7 strings!
5. All my inquiries about the bass I was to buy from Sean were well answered to, and the instrument was duly shipped, very well packaged, very soon after he received payment. I am happy with the purchase, and I certainly recommend Sambrook to other forum members. Good luck!
6. I have been able to test the bass a little more, setting the action to my liking. The instrument's response has been consistent and satisfying. Circuitry might be improved but presently it offers many combinations and tonal shades. I look forward to many hours playing this Rikkers... Thank you to all previous owners who cared for this bass; for me it really belies its age. I will try not to wonder what other instruments Sambrook has, so that this one was allowed to leave his collection... Cheers
7. The bass arrived today, very well packaged for its overseas journey. Still testing it, but first impressions have been quite good. Attractive woods and neck, versatile electronics, good weight balance, tuners working well, surprising ergonomics. More tests in a couple of days...
8. My basses came factory-fitted with straplocks, so up to now I did not have to decide on that. Some were of the flush type and some were not. Both have pros and cons... On the whole, I think that they add safety as long as you revise them frequently: parts may have loosened, or the strap piece may not be fully put into the bass piece... So try to keep in mind that straplocks are no guarantee for an instrument not falling to the ground. But for straplock-free basses I would appreciate comments on solutions like the rubber pieces mentioned here and there ... Cheers
9. Thank you, Panamonte! Will you believe me then if I say that I was also looking for a fiver...? Let us see if this one makes me forget that 'whim', hahaha...
10. After a satisfying exchange of mails and messages, I am finally waiting for this fretless to arrive...
11. Hello, this is the place for leaving your impressions on the transactions where martenot has taken part. Hopefully your comments will be good! Thank you. martenot
12. Hello, I registered here some time ago but -pardon me- I forgot to say hello then...! I am a professional composer -of the so-called 'contemporary' orchestral & chamber music -but as a performer I like fretless bass most, after having tried and sometimes learnt -to various extents- several other instruments. Usually I visit other, local forums, but the information that can be found here is really huge and helpful; thank you! The liveliness of all these contributions is to be envied... I hope to gradually participate in some of your conversations, though the level of expertise is rather high... Congratulations!
13. Still available? If so, current pics and price? Thank you.
