1. Where's the Schecter love? I have the Elite version of this bass. Build quality is first class on these, puts many far more expensive basses to shame.
2. From my understanding the US made Schecters are all marked as USA standard and the De Leo signature bass isn't one of these. Here's a link to the 2002 Schecter Catalogue showing this bass and also the USA standard models for that year. http://www.schecterguitars.com/international/media/k2/attachments/2002_Catalog.pdf

4. Thanks for your replies guys, the J Bass thing is very likely GAS! Some very sensible suggestions to stick with the Schecter which will also save me the trouble of explaining to the wife why I need to spend money on a Bass when "you can only play one at a time".
5. These guys have been doing it for me for while now, I hope you enjoy. https://youtu.be/YyeGzSA_Ua8
6. I started my bass journey last year by purchasing a Schecter Stilleto Elite (Diamond series) from BC's market place. The previous owner (bassmanady) swapped out the pick ups for Delano SBCs and its sounds lovely to my untrained ears, has a large array of sounds and is comfortable to play. Having learnt my bass playing from you tube and books, I'm now about to invest in some lessons. My question is this! I have a serious hankering for a J Bass, is it worth my while buying one prior to the major learning investment of the next 6 months of weekly lessons or do I wait? Is a J Bass going to be any easier to learn on than the current Schecter?
7. I've just bought an Ashdown 515 combo from Taran. Great, easy transaction and a very helpful guy.
8. Steve, try Parcel2go.com they are a site that gets cheap rates for all the big carriers (like UPS, TNT etc), a 35kg parcel on 2 day delivery is around £25 to send.

10. You could try a local metal fabricators workshop, you can then pick the metal and the finish. Such a small job will only take them an hour or two so is unlikely to be very expensive.
11.
i started a few years ago at 38 years young. got lessons for a few months to get started. Online lessons are awesome, but you need someone in the flesh every now and then to tell you what bad habits you are picking up. defo +1 on joining a band, i did it last year and my learning sky rocketed. i put an ad on joinmyband looking for other older newbies to get together with. We've got a rookie bassist, singer, guitarist and drummer so noone feels too foolish.
Thanks for the advice Ribbit, I've been thinking along the lines of getting a few lessons. Once I can actually hold a tune I'll look into the band thing also.
12. Just bought a Schecter off of Ady, very pleasant easy deal. Ady was a pleasure to deal with.
