1. I assume that this has been done to death, but since I am a newbie to all things effects related then please indulge me for a second. Just bought the above last week having previously purchased the standard chorus pedal CH1 on the advice of my bass playing buddy. Well I got the CH1 home and used it all night, but I just wasn't happy with it. I can't put my finger on it, but it just didn't do it for me. Well I phoned my other friend who owns the guitar shop where I got it and arranged to take it back and try out the bass equivalent (CEB 3). Well I thought i'd better take the Bongo with me so I could get a realistic representation of how the whole thing would sound in a real world situation. Well as it turned out I loved the sound that the bass chorus gave that the standard CH1 didn't. So moral of the story is don't always take advice from other people (Your ears may prefer different things to them) and try everything in the shop rather than just one thing. It will save you a lot in petrol money and time if and when you need to go back to try something else. Most definitely a lesson learned. In any case I am getting some fantastic sounds from the bass chorus now. Excellent.
2. The pictures don't do it justice. In the flesh it is amazing. So vibrant. I am still pinching myself even now. It has exceeded all my expectations. My bass playing buddy and also the guy who own the shop from where I got it from (who is another good friend) have both been blown away with it. It is a wonderful instrument. Quite possibly the best £1700 I have ever spent.
3. Hey Musicman20. I got it from my local MM dealer in Keighley, Yorkshire. The guy who owns the shop is a friend of mine as well. I originally ordered it in Tangerine Pearl, but I found out in February that they were doing this colour (Chilli Red) for 2016, so I managed to change it in time. It is such a vivid red. Stunning. Almost like pillar box red. The 6 months wait has been worth it.
4. Hey folks, My Bongo arrived a couple of weeks ago after a wait of 6 months and I have been unable to put it down. What a stunning instrument. Absolutely beautiful and what a huge, huge sound. So versatile. Bright, clear and thunderous when required. There is going to be no hiding place with this. I am really going to be on top of things with it as it picks up absolutely everything. It is certainly going to make me a better player because of it. I even had it feeding back like a mother at one point. Screaming like a jet engine. Awesome. I know my Bongo and I are going to be spending many happy hours together. Oh and please forgive my sad attempt at humour with the first picture. Being a reformed drummer I thought it would be appropriate.
5. Hey folks, Just took delivery of my MusicMan Bongo4 the other day. What a beautiful instrument. I also bought some strap locks for it and they came supplied with their own screws which as it turned out are very short. About half an inch long. I took one of the original strap buttons off and the screw is huge. Over an inch long. I like the idea that MM have over engineered it that way, so the after market strap locks I bought are going back. I just don't feel confident with them. Also I have seen some strap buttons that actually hold the strap away from the body so not to rub the body and mark it. Does anyone know where I can get them from and what are they called? (brand name) Thanks guys

8. Thanks fellas. Some great ideas. I take delivery of my Bongo 4 HH on Wednesday that I have been waiting 6 months for. Maybe I will think about that as well. Cheers
9. Hey folks, I am looking for a bass related tattoo to go over an old tattoo that I am in the process of having lasered off. I have looked at some designs and some are ok. Obviously I want the winning design to have a bass clef in it, but it would be nice to have something that is a bit more unusual than just the clef on it's own. Has anyone else got any ideas of possible designs? I am open to all possibilities. Thanks
10. Sorry fellas. Should have made myself more clear. Yes indeed. An Ampeg PF500 and Hartke HX 115 cab. As I am relatively new to bass playing (previously I only had a Roland practice amp). I have recently come into some money, so I decided to get a new rig that would be good for practicing at home, but equally good at band rehearsals and on a gig as and when I am competent enough to join a band. Luckily I have had the luxury of having two friends who have played bass for many years (one who owns the guitar shop where I got my gear) and the other who is a virtuoso player who is also giving me lessons. I guess it helps that I also play the drums and have done for 30 years. I had always hankered after learning the bass, so I took the plunge and it is going great. The rig is fantastic and while it is still running in I was very impressed with the meaty sound. Full and rich. I am by no means an expert, but I know when something sounds good. Thus far the combination is doing very well. Once it is fully run in I should be able to get the full potential. I am certainly enjoying finding out it's capabilities.
11. For me I always think of Pino Palladino on the Paul Young track Wherever I lay My Hat. Fantastic.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRjiMN2qJHI
12. Well after many recommendations I bought one from OBBM. Bombproof build quality fast delivery and to say that it is a top notch cable it was very reasonably priced. Thanks to all for your assistance. I really appreciate it.
13. Hey folks, As a newbie to the forum and also a relatively new bass player I was wondering if there any effects pedals that can mimic a fretless sound? I know that it would be near impossible to do it totally, but I was just curious as I love the fretless sound, but do no have the technical ability to play a fretless bass. Any pointers would be helpful.
14. Have ordered an OBBM. Just waiting for it to arrive. I recently got a speakon Designacable one to connect my amp and cab together. They seem to be working well.
15. For my money it is ultimately the sound, but if it looks good then that is a bonus. I have recently bought a Hartke Hydrive 115 cab and the aluminium speaker is on show through the silver speaker grille and it looks so classy. My bass playing buddy recently upgraded his whole backline with 4 Hartke 4x10 cabs with a couple of Ampeg 1000w amps sat on top in their flightcases. That rig looks immense and it sounds like thunder.
