  1. Thanks to Phil Parker for a trouble-free transaction. Top chap!
  2. Just stay off eBay when you're slightly pissed - that's how I ended up driving a Transit from Surrey to Skegness to pick up a double bass.
  3. Hi all, Joining Basschat seems to have coincided with me deciding to cut right back on gigging and concentrating on being a bedroom player for a while, although there may be a bit of recording and arranging in there too. However, I still have my love of all things bass, which started nearly 50 years ago, and I'm looking forward to getting info, advice and chat from the forum. Bit of a traditionalist, basswise, mainly Fender, Musicman and G&L, although I also have a very tasty Wal (which is up for sale elsewhere on the forum). Amps - mainly EA iAmp 500 through Epifani cabs, with Little Mark II and Markbass Nano as backup. Anyway, good to be on here - talk soon. David
  4. Thank you for the kind words, gentlemen! You are also immensely good people.
  5. I'm based in Redhill in Surrey. The bass weighs 11.4lbs.
  6. With much regret I'm selling my 1986 Wal Mk 2 - I'm retiring from playing live and it's just too nice a bass to spend its life hanging on a wall. Bought from the excellent Dave Williamson (Midge Ure, etc) last year. It's a mahogany core with padauk facings and an Indian ebony fingerboard - weight is fairly typical at 11.4lbs. Comes with original Wal hard case. Absolutely pristine condition, with the benefit of a recent refret/service at Electric Wood, where the little 'slapguard' was made and fitted. It's held in place by the lip of the truss rod cavity and can be easily removed - although I quite like it! Due to the value of the bass I'd really prefer pick-up only from Redhill in Surrey - I want the buyer to be happy and I'd rather avoid giving it to a carrier. However can ship within the UK and Europe if absolutely necessary, at the buyer's expense.
