2. The racing stripe is very cool design feature.. Something Yamaha should also use on their basses I think I'm getting a Revstar as well
3. Lot of great new colours and models in the Yamaha Revstar range, but nothing new with the basses. A pity. Still like my newly acquired teal BB 435 though Did see a post at talkbass mentioning a new Billy Sheehan model with roasted maple neck. Wouldn't mind having roasted maple neck options in the BB range.
4. Great basses either way. Congrats with your Bob Glaub
5. Recently sold my Lakland USA Bob Glaub. Amazing bass. Apart from the fact that I didn't like the 1.75" wide neck, the shallow C profile and 10" inch radius neck made it easy to play. Overall Lakland really make great necks. I'm hoping to get a 1,5" inch USA 44-64 or 44-60.

7. Great bass! I've seen that newer Nash Basses have a 10" fingerboard radius. Same with this bass?
8. As somebody who likes flatter fingerboards and good fretwork, I would have personally chosen the 44-64. I would go for the The Fender if you're not particular happy with adjusting necks, as American standards have graphite rods in the neck.
9.
I would imagine there was an issue with the pickup, battery and setup on the Ray 5. I've tried many many Laklands, and whilst they make a fairly cool 35" 5 string bass, the Musicman 5 strings I've played always sounded MUCH tighter with more of a kick on the B string.
My experience is of course with just the one SR5, so purely objective. May get a SR4 in the future though Still, Lakland make great basses, both the Skyline range and the USA range.
10.
This is exactly me. Had an Xotic, lovely bass, would have kept it. But a 5er is second to my Precision for most gigs, plus buying a house, so wanted a cheaper 5 and free up some cash from the Xotic. I was all set to have fun searching for a used SR5, but with struggling to find the spec I want, at the price I want, with a new baby and new house stuff....I got bored quickly with shopping around used sites etc. So today I purchased a 55-01 from The Gallery . NBD thread up a little later! Si
A very good choice My first 5-string I had was a SR5, weak sound from the pickup and floppy B-string. Many years later I treated myself to a MTD 535. Better B-string, but too many dead spots on the fretboard. After that, my first Lakland, a 55-01. Cheap as hell, firm and articulate B-string and no dead spots! The pickups are OK, but for the price its a great bass!. Never looked back. Next 5-string I had was a Lakland USA 5-string JO and the last few years a Skyline 55-64 which actually has a even better fretjob than the JO, the bass basically plays itself. I'm never changing 5-string brand again!
