  1. Hello, I contacted Francois from https://www.avantguardshop.com in February regarding custom pickguard, we agreed on conditions, he pointed out that current lead time was 4 months. I sent payment, he confirmed reception of payment and that was pretty much last reasonable communication from him: There was no further communication from him till May when I asked how things are going and I learned that "We're making good progress on your guard, although there's some important steps ahead that we can't rush. I'm going to the laser cutting booth next week, while the material is resting.". Then there was no further communication from him till July when I had to ask twice (29th June and then 4th July) to get response. I got response "I'm approaching completion on your guard. Here's the template straight out of the laser booth. I'm transferring it to the material on monday, will send an update." together with picture of laser-cut template. There was no further communication so I asked for status again on 4th August. No response. So I asked again on 2nd September. And again on 9th September. And a gain on 18th September: I got response on 18th September: "this one should be complete over the weekend, and shipping on monday with this week's batch! Sorry about the wait": There was again no further communication, so I asked again on 2nd October and got no response. So at this point I'm getting on terms that I was scammed, hence I am posting it here as a warning for anyone considering doing business with Avantguard. I'd also like your feedback: did you receive any pickguard from Avantguard recently? If yes, could you share details? When ordered, when delivered? Maybe it was legit business that turned into scam recently? Thx
  2. Hmm. So I just noticed that the V2 no longer advertises "Class A" circuity. The CB version had it written both on the pedal and in the manual. V2 version has it neither on the pedal or in the manual. Any thoughts? Edit: and I actually got a very quick reply from Origin Effects (Jacob, thanks!), so sharing it here: "The design of the pedal changed a hair, the signal path of the compressor is still Class A. But there is an OP Amp in the bypass path, so it's not Class A in bypass. Though with where it is placed, you're unlikely to tell the difference between it being Class A and not."
  3. What is that button on the back as if under the bridge?
  4. Hi guys, did anyone compare the built-in Microtubes models with Microtubes captures? Which sounds better?
  5. This is cool! I'll have the pink one. Pink for punk!
  6. Hi guys, I'm looking for a way to tilt my cab to serve as monitor and at the same time being able to put the head on top of the cab, presumably on some level stand of sorts, so that it doesn't fall from tilted cab and so that I can access it's controls easily (i.e. it's not laying on the ground next to cab). Do you use similar arrangement? Did you see it somewhere? Please post tips and links. Thx in advance!
  7. If the cabs are as good as my Glockenklang Blue Sky, then I'll need to find opportunity to test them. Btw. I had chance to test Soul (mk1) and it was fantastic, assuming Soul II is as good, then £490 is a steal.
  8. I think it's poor wording of the title. But then I'm not native speaker, so forgive me. What you're saying is that your playing has improved not because you left a band, but because you started doing something new. So it should say "Did your playing improve once you started doing something new?" and then I can guess the answer would be "sure, yes" for most guys. If the band naturally evolves, then you should have opportunity to try something new within existing band, so leaving band is not necessary to improve. When my band was dissolved, I had period when I didn't feel like playing, so obviously my playing did not improve. But then I joined new band and I was motivated, invigorated and I have indeed improved my playing.
  9. Bought a Darkglass Super Symmetry pedal from Roger. Fast transaction, good packaging, no issues. Recommended seller!
  10. Got good experience with Ernie Ball Super Slinky.
  11. @BassManGraham What amp did you use before? And could you make a quick comparison with Quilter, please? Edit: and additional question - is the line out level normalised or does it change with gain?
  12. I tried 5-string Marcus Miller's Sire Jazz bass in store the other day and it was decent. I believe they start below £400.
  13. Compressor. I'm using Bayger Sustainer, but any good compressor would do. Why? Check your favourite compressor thread :-)
  14. It. Is. Stunning. I always wondered what's the slot in between the pickups on these. Anyone?
  15. This is really fantastic, natural-sounding cab. I have had the same for years. Eminence speakers, quality coaxial voice-coil tweeter placed on the top woofer. One can't get better sounding 400W for this price.
