1. I used the Soundslive email coupons and got myself a very good deal on a Orange Bass Terror last year!
2. I had a the same problem recently with my Orange Bass Terror amp!!! It was local festival and the organisers where let down by Southern Electric and had to resort to generators. The guitarist H&K tube head would not work either! We lost 15 minutes of our 45 minute set, very frustrating.....
3. Same here, definitely looking forward to try a Compact. I am based in Reading (or Slough - work)

ESP Basses

Hi, I have a Vintage 4 (the relic'd Precision at the top), and I love it... I've put Chromes flats on and is great to play. If you are looking for a PJ Precision type bass I can definitely recommend it (great build quality and hardware), I tried several Fenders P's and a Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub and I preferred the ESP. Cheers Joao
5. Hi, I got the 40db attenuator from StudioSpares (only £4.34 + VAT), and that has done the trick. I used it on my little home mixer which only has mic level XLR inputs and I have not noticed any impact on the sound quality (sounded great with my headphones last night). From now on the 40db attenuator will live on the pocket of the Orange Bass Terror carry case, and should get me out of trouble if I ever have issues with the DI signal being too hot for some desks. Joao
6. Hi, Aguilar sell head cases for the amps, they do 2U and 4U ones. These are available with all the different DB spearker tolex finishes. http://store.aguilaramp.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=5 I guess that you could order one of these from one of UK stores that sell Aguilar, but I will expect that will work out quite expensive (I have been looking for one to match my Aguilar DB410 in black tolex, but I can not justify the cost just for the vintage look....) Also, I think that someone in the forum got Matamp to build a custom head case for a Mesa 400+ head (in red Tolex to match the Matamp cabs), you could try them. Cheers, Joao
7. The Jaguar has been my main bass for the last couple of years. Just like quality Jazz bass but much cooler, I woud love to get another one in vintage white with the tort pickguard to match my Jazzmaster guitar. Got mine secondhand from the old forum, it came with a Badass bridge and Kent Armstrong pickups already which I really like. Paul - where did you get the black pickguard ? I really like the all black look... Cheers Joao
It is what swung it for me, if I am honest, in a play-off between a USA jazz and the jag. The idea that I have a good quality fender bass that looked a little different from the herd is quite appealing. Mine is black and, with a black pick guard on it, looks even cooler - my Panther! 8. Same here, I have been using them for years they have always been 1st class. Only once they got my order wrong, I ordered one off the little Fender foldable guitar stands, and they sent out the acoustic guitar version! I gave them a quick call, they apologised and they sent the correct stand next day and for the inconvenience they said I could keep the acoustic guitar stand... Cheers João
9. Hi, For me all methods are valid, as I think that all depends on song, style and sound, etc... So, I am more impressed with creativity, musicality and versatility, than any specific technique. The breakdown for me: Fingers - 50% Pick - 40% Slap - 5% (not good at it really... but can be fun) Others - 5% (Ebow, playing chords and arpeggios finger picking/classical guitar style, occasional tapping, etc...) Also, I think that depends on the EFX that you are using. I always prefer to use a pick when using any form of Overdrive, Distortion or Fuzz with the bass. I am also considering getting a upright/cello bow, as I saw the guy from the The Airborne Toxic Event using a bow on a P bass to great effect a few weeks ago, and this as given me a few ideas.... Cheers, Joao
10. Hi there, I got a Bass Terror last weekend, tried in the shop with a TC 2x10 cab and the guys in shop said that building was vibrating. Got home, hooked it up to my Aguilar DB410 cab just to give it a quick try, and within 5 minutes next door complained saying that I was making too much noise (more than the usual...). Band practice last night, comments from the guys in the band "is going too be loud enough, it is only a very small amp - turn it up to see how loud it goes?", I think that they regreted the last comment when I turned the volume up to 12 o'clock - THIS AMP IS VERY LOUD Moos3h review is pretty accurate, I love it so far and works very well with my DB410 cab At first I assumed that the Bass Terror had a std active EQ with cut and boost as the legend on the front panel shows a zero at 12 o'clock, but the EQ is definitely passive as when the bass, mid and treble are all at minimum position no sound comes out. Even with passive EQ you can get quite a lot of variation from the EQ, with most settings being very usable. Yes, the fan is noisy but not really noticeable in a band situation. I had a look at the fan and this looks like a std 80mm PC Case cooling fan, so I am considering replacing it with a silent (quiet) PC Case fan as this looks very easy to do assuming that runs at 12V supply (a high end "silent" PC fan will cost between £8 and £15). I think that my Ampeg SVT-2 Pro is going to be up for sale very soon Cheers Joao
11. Hi, Looks very cool I am looking for an headcase like that for my SVT-2Pro. Did the Matamp guys build the head case ? The 2x12 also looks great, I would be tempted to get one in Orange Tolex to go with the Orange Bass Terror that I got this weekend Cheers Joao
12. Hi there, I can recommend the Adrenalinn, it has really amazing effects and is very easy to use. I got myself an eBow a couple of weeks ago, and when used with some of the Adrenalinn sync filter effects you get great arpeggio synth style bass lines. This is one of my favourite bits of kit ever.... Cheers, Joao
