Total Watts

  1. Up for grabs is my studio amp, the vox AC4 with matching head. Don't be fooled by this being 4 Watts. These are valve watts, and it's very loud. It also sounds great. I have owned both since new with neither leaving the studio. There are a couple of cosmetic marks and tears in the tolex covering but nothing that impacts performance. I have tried to show these in the pictures. I tend to use this with a Harley Benton attenuator which enables the amp to be driven hard without melting your ear drums or annoying the neighbours. I'll throw this in but please be aware one of the jack sockets on the attenuator is a bit temperamental. I'm sure it's an easy fix. The amp also has built in attenuation, with 4w, 1w, and 1/4w options. I find the external option more flexible. I have owned this for stuff 10 years so the box and packing are long gone. Given this, and it's size it's collection only please. Happy to drive within a reasonable distance of Southampton to meet half way/deliver if needed. No idea on pricing this one so let me know if it's miles out. Pictures to follow. Cheers, Adam
  2. In as new condition, used a handful of times in my smoke free home studio. It's a very useful but if kit but I find myself using it less and less following an upgrade of my main monitors. I have the original box and packing so happy to post at buyers cost. *Pictures to follow
  3. **Now Sold** With a bit of a heavy heart I'm looking to move on what was my first proper bass, an Overwater Progress dated to somewhere around 1991. This bass was a bit of a workhorse for the first 8 years of its life with me but I am increasingly playing styles more suited to fretless. The bass itself is in great condition for its age with a few little (tiny) dinks on both the front and the back of the body but nothing that is visible without a good look. All electrics work perfectly and it has recently has a service. Its fitted with active EMG's which I though were a retrofit but Chris at Overwater has previously said they did turn a few of these out with EMGs as a custom option late 80's early 90's (see topic below). The circuitry and pick up selector gives plenty of control over tones. Mostly it is quite Hi-Fi but can be mellowed and get thumpy with the right strings. Shaller tuners which, along with it being super solid, keep the bass in tune forever. The only issue with the bass is that, prior to me owing it, the back plate and (probably) battery cover was replaced with ones that do the job but don't quite fit the cavities. The original contained the serial numbers so they are now missing, which is really annoying, but otherwise this does not affect the bass in anyway at all. Please see the linked thread below with some words from Chris May. All in all it sounds great, plays great and is completely solid. Looks wise....possibly a bit marmite (I like it) but we're musicians, not a posers, right?!? Included in the sale is the (huge) hard case that I got with it which is looking a little worse for wear, has a bit of rope acting as a zip, but will probably outlive me. I would prefer collection or meet up but would considering posting at buyers expense. Any questions please ask. No trades please. Cheers, Adam
  4. Your best bet is to not sweat it too much over the differing brands at this level, or any level really, from what I can tell. Get some monitors (not hi-fi speakers!) set them up in your room and treat it with some level of acoustic treatment and learn how the speakers sound. This will have a far bigger impact on how well your monitor set up works than the brand you have chosen. If you are just getting started I would Google 'Reaper - why do you recordings sound like ass' and read that thread a couple of times (and the associated acoustic thread for how to treat monitoring room on the cheap) before hitting up any other recording forums etc which will likely tell you to buy x brand of gear or the latest Waves plugin to get good recordings. Then start recording and learn stuff. Hope this doesn't come across as patronising at all, all intended to help
  5. Nice one - thanks again for the useful information.
  6. Awesome - Thanks. Hans Zimmer seems like a genuinely nice guy with a great outlook on things! I've started trawling through Vi Control as well, some really useful stuff there! Sorry to have to ask this - I have tried finding out but cant get a clear answer - with the VSL libraries do you know if you need to buy the sampler software on top or do you get a basic version with the samples?
  7. Lots of useful stuff to look through and some amazing sounding samples! Especially enjoying Piano in Blue. Ambient - This is for a friends dad who also trains horses. He previously has had pre-recorded music but really liked having a piece written specifically for his horses routine last time out. The judges liked it too, so he wanted another done. Its strangely satisfying when you match tempo perfectly to the gait pattern/speed isn't it! Thanks for the suggestions!
  8. Hi All, I have got myself a bit of work composing a short piece of music for a horse dressage routine. I have done this previously for the same customer who at the time wanted a piece with influenced by Red Right Hand (Nick Cave). All standard instruments so pretty straight forward. For the current commission he is after a more orchestral piece based upon strings and piano. I have no intention of recording live strings due to cost issues but given its for a paying customer, will impact on the result of the routine and the stings are likely to be at the forefront, I want a decent quality realistic string/piano sound. I do have a reasonable budget but don't want to go nuts. I've done a bit of research into it but interested to find out what some of you guys use for this kind of thing? Cheers, Adam
  9. Bump....this is a lot of amp for the money
  10. I've had this rig sitting around my flat for some time not getting used. I had my amp tech check over the HA3500 who re soldered both inputs (had a small issue losing power last time i used it) and checked the rest of the amp over - its working perfectly. Cab works perfectly but has a few scuffs and one of the carrying handles has a split in it but it does not impact on carrying the cab at all. also included is a custom flight case for the HA3500. Handle, as you will see, is makeshift. Its not the most comfortable but its secure and fine for short trips. Apologies for the poor quality of photos! Give size, wieght and work constraints id much much rather collection from Southampton. I also travel to Portsmouth a fair ammount. These both need to go so make me an offer. Adam
  11. Price drop to £60 collected. This needs to go......
