1. 26 Y/O based in South London 10 years experience playing many styles. Looking to play funk/soul/ rhythm and blues/ reggae. Good grooves etc. Absolutely no interest in indie/rock/NME/haircut bands.
2. Q: What's the only thing in the whole world more boring than U2? A: A Basschat thread about U2. Step aside people, your work here is done. Nothing to see...
3. I like to disturb the local wildlife when I play and make people's teeth itch. I want my bass to sound like tinfoil. Any advice?
4.
Nice one guys.... trashing Pram's sale thread. Nice one......
I agree. This is a poor show.
5. I played the Fiddlers Elbow a few years ago. We had an excellent sound engineer, but I think the promotor was a bit flaky and all the othe bands pulled out. Since this is the only time I've ever been there, I'd take it with a pinch of salt. House engineer: Excellent Typical audience numbers: We played to our mates and the local drunkards! Quality of billing: Terrible, all the other bands pulled out! Vibe: Acceptable Stage sound/monitor mixes: Excellent House backline quality: Not sure, we used our own. Tricks to get industry people down there : Trendy haircuts, tight jeans and don't tune your instruments!
6.
10/10 for bravery, 9/10 for the bass line, 7/10 for the drumming and 2/10 for the vocals Was there a very drunk keyboard player in there somewhere also?
Yeah, very drunk keyboard player. Auld Lang Syne was just drunken key-mashing and ended in total disarray!
7. 1) Play open strings 2) Fret all notes up and down neck 3) Check what the knobs do 4) How does it sound/feel? (you should know by now!) Buy it... or not. 5) Slap the living sh*t out of it to make sure the staff know how god damn funky you are and that you are far too talented for an English A-level (for example).
8. Yep. He's a proper good bassist - absolutely no mug! Saw Chaz + Dave a few years ago, amazing stuff. The drummer (who must be about 80) insisted on using only 1 mic for his whole kit - but f*** did it sound good - brilliant band.
9. Good stuff. If it were on the radio I think the 48 second breakdown from 2.20 to 3.08 could be considered too long(although it would be fine in the sun at Glastonbury). I'm no expert on songwriting, I just like short songs. Good to see the chorus out in under 60 seconds! Not my thing at all, but a good band is a good band and this is a good band!
10. Cheers guys. I've just this second sold my car, so shall be taking him up on the offer. Wonderful
11. I've got a chance to get a Little Mark II for £380 from a mate. I know it's in mint condition, is about 2 years old and has hardly ever been used. Does £380 sound about fair? They don't seem to pop up for sale that often so I'm not sure what they go for. Cheers
