1. Hi all of you, is everything good down there in the Lo Zone? Any of you bass chatters go to the Frank Bello Clinic in central London last night?
 2. Thank you bluejay. Next year give me a shout and I will see if I can sort passes for you so I don't have to sneak you in on somebody else's pass like we did this year.
 3.
Yes it got noisy, the Eden and Hartke guys had a volume battle at one point (when I wasn't around) and management got involved.

I saw that, but had to leave before it ended to catch JT, and to be fair it was a highlight for me. maybe it gained a bit of volume after I left, but I didn't see it as much as a volume battle as a 'bass off', and for the duration I was around it was fun, it was light hearted, and more than anything it was musical. Given the general soundscape of inept slapping, it was refreshing to hear some funky riff trading.
Not sure where the "management got involved" came from cause they certainly never mentioned anything to me or the other guys as far as I know. Amazing thing was one of the guys playing on our stand wasn't a bassist, he plays guitar. He just wanted to "play around a bit". Sickeningly talented individual. In fairness there were two guys playing different rigs simultaneously but believe me loud isn't anything we aim for at the shows. I did speak to the organisers and ask them to police the quiet periods properly because three days at a show like this when it is loud is very tiring. Hope the show keeps getting proper support from the bassists out there. The drum show will be doubling in size this year because of the commitment shown by the community and I would love to see the same thing happen with the LBGS.
 4. Just a quick defense of mrtcat. I think we have to be clear that some retailers, brands etc do not want to get onto forums for numerous reasons, some reasonable, some unreasonable. Often dialogue takes place behind the scenes and it is up to the individual posting to decide, based on the dealers (sometime overdue) response whether 'naming and shaming' is a reasonable response or whether a one off cock up on behalf of an otherwise responsible dealer is a reason to shame them.
 5. So who knew so many 'owners' in the bass world get involved. That is me told.
 6. I am sorry to hear the problems that have been encountered by Hartke users. For what it is worth I am happy the bore the s*** out of anyone that wants to listen about how reliable the products are but occasionally things do go wrong. What I am asking here is can we please direct the frustrations at the right people because without that clarity things will never improve. When something goes wrong it is the responsibility of the retailer to resolve quickly and efficiently. On these occasion it doesn't sound like that hasn't happened but as mentioned by dmccombe7 he did receive a message from Larry. That is Larry Hartke! Name one other owner in this trade who would have this level of interaction, so next time any of you are in New York go and see him. The store is full of toys by the way! (-; In my experience when Larry does receive emails he will contact the relevant distributors asap and he puts pressure on them to contact their retailers, messages sent to Samson in the USA regarding overseas issues are treated in the same way. That means that a message to Larry may have to go through numerous people to get a resolution. In the case of Thomann it took two weeks. That is Thomann at fault not "Hartke customer service". Everybody I know within the Hartke family are absolutely driven to provide the best customer service we can and we all believe in the brand. It is absolutely correct that as distributors of the brand we should be held to account when things go wrong because we select the retailers to supply the products to all of you. In future if you are in the UK please email direct with issues, hell if your not in the UK then email me anyway, I will help! If you happen to be at the show this weekend, come and talk to me. (Mines a coffee with two sugars by the way). By posting the right info we can help drive the responses of everybody in the chain which benefits us all, Brands, Retailers, Distributors and most importantly you the customer. Sorry rant over, I am gonna go to the local retailer and kick an Ashdown, Ampeg, Fender, TC Electronic amp (delete as appropriate).
 7.
I've used a Samson Airline rig for years now. It's been flawless, and has no pesky body pack to worry about.
Made by the company who invented wireless systems two years before anybody else. This is still available at a retailer near you.
 8.
I'm not sure of the costs but I suspect finances may be a bit prohibitive for the smaller companies like Barefaced and Goodfellows. How many speakers and basses do you need to sell to justify the cost of a stand at LBGS? Hopefully Molan will be along shortly to tell us the cost of a stand for the weekend.
To be frank if you were treating the LBGS as an exercise of making money as a distributor/manufacture you wouldn't turn up. Bear in mind most people expect discounts at the show and the product is still going through a retailer. For what it is worth we go because of the opportunity to talk directly to our customers although I would be happier if the stand holders stuck to the 1/4 hr on 3/4 off playing rule so it wasn't as intense.
 9. Hi Guys, Hope you all well? Not sure if this has been flagged up but there is an on-line event next week just for bass players. Hartke will be offering a £300 bass amp to one individual just for liking our new Hartke facebook page and I am sure other offers will be available from other brands. Be interesting to see what people think of the event as it is the first time it has been tried by music radar I think?
 10.
Also, any chance of persuading Larry to ditch that current big, blocky Hartke logo? I think it looks a bit "cartoon" and cheapens the gear...
don't think there is any prospect of it changing any time soon. A change of logo would look odd on his hummer!
 11. The London Bass Guitar Show are delighted to announce a legendary and innovative metal bass player to the 2013 show, Dave Ellefson. As one of international rock scene's most respected musicians, David will host a masterclass on Saturday 2nd March 2013. 12.
I don't think I'll want to build my own, I don't have any experience or any prior knowledge about the subject whatsoever and I would probably end up getting a bad sound. Hartke looks promising.
Check page 5 out on my Hartke brochure link. The product is streeting at about £300.
 13. Hi Mcnach You can try www.iimusicshops.com on 01315548844 who may be able to put you in touch with a local engineer. Otherwise they will arrange to get it sent back to us here.
 14.
apparently he's pretty nearly deaf

I saw him at the Stables last Sunday. The sound after the interval was much better, although his Hartke rig seemed to overpower everything else, including the PA.

Perfect setup for me to knock Hartke Amplification but I shant lol
Hi Guys, Noticed these so I am replying en mass (more efficient and less work) As far as Jacks hearing is concerned I think you will find that it is known as selective hearing. According to my sisters it is a man thing! His hearing is okay but like all of us by the time we are in our 'autumn' years we will have probably lost the top end of the register. I was at the Stables gig and in their defence the monitor tech supplied that was due to be doing the gig turned out to be a bad fit for the band.(Diplomatic comment) Once Jacks tech got his hands on the mix it got better but I think the continual back stage issues didn't help the FOH guy either. The mix for the DVD was great and extremely well balanced as you would expect. As far as and opportunity to knock Hartke amplification. As you know Schnozzalee only a bad workman would blame his tools so I presume your not implying that a bad gig could even be due to the rig! . Seriously I think that all the gear on offer these days really does allow everybody to pick exactly what is best for each other and I don't know any brand that is all things to all men. Vive la difference! (said in my best allo allo French accent) Hope you all have a good day.
 15. I'm the good looking one on the right with a couple of 'hangers on'.
