  1. Hi Guys, This is great, an abundant resource of finger exercise wonderness!! lol Don't know where to begin! Well have a weekend free to have a blast at a few of em!
  2. Wow, only left for an hour.... Lovin' the responses so far, thanks again guys and Jake I'm appreciating the punt! lol Agree with the idea of finger grace than finger strength...just throw this finger toy thing back at my workmate! Will give these exercises a go, hopefully should get my fingers working more efficiently particularly as I want to go down the road of making jazzy bass melodies. Again mainly the ring finger which causes my other fingers to flinch (3rd and pinky) which when I see others play does not seem to be an issue for them. Is this just part of progression or do I have crazy fingers?
  3. Thanks Bilbo... Looks like a great exercise to try out. Currently spending my day at work strengthening my fingers on some weird finger device my workmate has and then going home sitting in front of the TV and doing finger runs up and down my bass. Will let you know how I get on.
  4. Hi Guys, Will try my best to explain this... I'm really getting into the jazz/funk playing and really want to improve my finger fret movement. One thing I find hard is improving the movement of my ring and pinky finger. I find I can spread my fingers over each fret but as I apply pressure to the ring finger my middle finger flinches back and occasionally my pinky which makes more work getting to the string when playing faster. What I want to know are some good exercises to stablise my fingers on the frets so when i push down on my ring/pinky fingers I dont stop flinching all over the place. Someone please say they know what I'm talking about?? Cheers
  5. Hi all, Just signed up today through recommendation of a friend and so far has been fantastic!!! Little bit of history, began playing music at 6 on the piano... played for 10 years but at the end of it I didnt feel I got the most out of it (hopefully some of you will understand me when playing an instrument was mainly pushed by the parents). But on the plus side it did give a great appreciation of music and genres...although summoning it through the piano did not work. Went to play in a couple of bands, mostly vocals as my attempt at guitar was in no league to my mates. Then recently I decided to go to the bass, it has only been 6 months but it has been the most enjoyment I have ever had and compared to the other instruments I've played I definitely feel the progress so far has been amazing. Still finding my sound at the moment but really do enjoy the warm melodious jazzy side of bass so far. I have a Ibanez SRX360BK which I find has a lot of punch for a modestly priced bass guitar, unfortunately due to my budget at the time I ended up buying a small Line6 combo amp to practise with so does not do it justice. My concern now is that already I'm in a band (light indie) and hope you guys can help me suggest a good affordable gig rig. Never an easy question of course but your suggestions will help. Anyways look forward to chatting to you guys. Cheers Chappers
