  1. Thanks for the chronology correction. Basschat is an amazing place to learn about basses….I've been playing for over 40 years and still I know nothing really. I played very frequently in a function band for years, and my bass was always the very last thing to be plugged in, after everyone else was sorted. Sound familiar to anyone?
  2. And a respectful question for the experts…..opinions on the P bass variants which came before T40? There was one with a funny staggered pickup, and one with three knobs. I’m happy to agree with the negative comments re aT40….gigged one in bars and hotels around Inverness about 25 years ago, through a Peavey combo. Could never get a decent tone from it. Now we need a whole bunch of negatives about Aria SB1000 (no decent tones) and YamahaBB 1200 (neck diver).
  3. Hurrah, the collective brain rumbles. For more pix see Gumtree, Musselburgh. It is throughneck, active, and it's been stuck in a wardrobe for three or four years I imagine, since Scayles sold it. I'm interested, but would be totally happy if anybody bought it. It seems crazy to be GASSing with only one bass gig this year.....and none next year.
  4. I want to buy this, mainly because it looks so lonely sitting in an ads column for weeks and weeks. Have a vague memory of playing it once in Scayles, Edinburgh. And, always wanted to see one of my very rare posts with a reply from one of the amazing brains on this forum. If I do make an offer it'll be from a distance, so the more info I have the better. So, can anyone offer any help? I've done all the Googling I can think of. All I get is sheet music! Thanks.
  5. Hi, glad you moved this on without asking for some outrageous price. Hope the next owner is as reasonable. Smiley face, Nigel

    Zoom L-12

Just a plus one for the L12. Brilliant for live recording and mixing...I’ve recorded a five piece band, the whole gig using the L12 for FOH mix as well. No problems working with recording the whole gig. Easy transfer to a computer, although you have to go via a memory card. Also a great interface for home recording, you can eq and hear reverb on your signal going in, say a vocal, but it goes dry to the computer.
  7. Just sold my BB1100s to Dan. Great transaction, would recommend dealing with him.
  8. Another vote for Roxy and Elsewhere. Tom Fowler’s excellent bass playing still gets me after 40:years of listening. Curtis Live would be another, with Lucky Scott on bass.
  9. I’ve had some mics which picked up a regular pulsing noise from a hard drive? I remember cheap Behringer, and a couple of AKG mikes as culprits.
  10. Just bought a lined Fretless bass from Chris. Great transaction, and an absolute bargain! A pleasure to deal with Chris.
  11. Thanks sir. Very close, as these things go. Great colour also!
  12. Thanks. The pickups are hot as hell. . I have a jazz bitsa with them, and I have to be very careful playing through my Zoom B1 Four. Everything overloads! Live is, or was, fine, but switching basses would be a pain. Good luck with the playing. I have a double bass which I’d love to be playing with a band, but up here in northern Scotland there are few bands, especially just now. And zero places to play.....
  13. Any developments on this? I keep swithering about a fretless, and missed buying Stewblack's Revelation during lockdown. I hope the pickup problem will be sorted by a new loom? And the rest is just set up things. Please keep us informed!
  14. That’s an Underwood on the bridge btw. I messed around last night playing the magnetic pickup through a Zoom A3, using their double bass ‘modelling’. Sounded very usable.
