1. In the last four years there has only been one X Factor Christmas number 1 so...
2. Possibly. I was originally told I could use their bass amp but was then told I couldn't. I was still bringing my anp anyway.
3. Bumping this thread. I've got a gig in a few hours but am in a dicey situation. We're first on and then the 'headline' band. The headline band are providing the drum kit which we've been told about. The amp situation though... I've been told 'Bring guitar amps and bass amp'. This makes it sound like we're providing all the amps unless I'm just being paranoid. I haven't been asked by the other band or promoter if I'm okay about lending my gear out. I really don't want to feel like an arse and tell them sod off because no prior arrangement was made. Would it be worth taking a chance and just bring my DI box in case this happens? The venue has a great FOH and good monitors. Thanks.
4. "The first band on didn't bring any amps, can they use your gear?" "Will only have time for a quick line check" "Can only put a limited amount of bass through the monitors" "Why would you mic a bass cab?!" Other bands/audience shouting out how to set the sound during soundcheck. Or usually, just as our set finishes - "Great gig mate, really digging the bass lines/tone. Mind if I borrow your amp?"
5.
Don't waste that finish on bedroom playing. Get it out there where it's meant to be.
Huge +1
6. Can't think of one song where the bass was lost in the mix when the whole song was based around the bass line.
7. Didn't know lead bass guitar was an instrument!
8. I'd recommend actually playing a Status neck first. They're not for everyone and sound nothing like wood.
9. Have used my BDI21 also for when arriving at a venue and finding the promised back line to not exist. Good pedal but the build quality lets it down. I now use an MXR M80 and the clean signal on that is great.
10. Update: Bought some Fender flats and... they are almost identical to Chromes! Makes sense since D'Addario now makes Fender strings. The 40-100 set was still a little too much tension for my liking so I may try TI's.
11. Bought a set of Elixirs from Mel, packaged well, arrived quickly.
12. How do you get that 60's P sound in a modern P? Swap the pups and put on dead strings! *ducks*
13. Are there any sites/shops out there that allow string orders for singles to make your own gauge? Quick search on here didn't give me an answer. Ta!
14.
We've banned smoking from pubs , so maybe next we could ban bimbos , or women altogether . I would miss both myself , but the harsh fact is that we all know that women and drink don't mix , and you only need to go into any town centre in Britain on any night of the week to see that . Perhaps we need to admit that Britain was a much better and much safer place when men went out drinking and their women waited at home for them .
This is 2013 - not 1913.
