Total Watts

  1. Saw this on Gumtree, 96 USA Jazz for £350. I immediately responded saying it was far too cheap and would happily pay more, alas someone got in first and bartered him down to £250 as it had crackly pots FFS 😂 Probably took the shirt of his back too...
  2. Well after a quick look on the sellers FB page I see a pic of him playing the same bass with a different neck on it. I say "same bass" unless he had another with exactly the same ash wood grain. Think if you're going to lie about what you're selling try at least to make the thing look authentic ffs 🤣
  3. Yes never seen an all original standard USA like before either. The seller was going to send me the serial number so I could try and check it out but, but hasn't bothered so maybe that answers the question
  4. Hi Basschatters. I am looking at a 2000 Fender Jazz standard bass that unusually has blocks and binding. The bass has the silver logo rather than the black usually found on 70 reissue models. Not got the serial number yet to run it through the database. Has anyone come across this before on a USA standard model? Cheers
  5. Just to confirm what Mot said. I had one of these and the serial number indicated it was a late 80s but the neck stamp said 1997. After investigation I found out that it was indeed the case that a number of necks and bodies created in the late 80s were stored and put together years later. Suppose you have the advantage of the wood being more aged and shaped during their prime era, yet fundamentally a newer less used bass, if that makes sense. Mine was great and regret selling it.
  6. Yes great bass at a good price. If you were closer I’d be looking at this. Good luck with sale
  7. Ah ok, maybe it's a new thing. Forgive my caution but I bought a Japanese Squier P recently and found out the body was MDF so double checking any purchases. This one looks good, I was really after a finished P body but may go for this PJ and apply a finish myself, jus having a think and final look round Dave
  8. Hi. Is this definitely from guitarbuild.co.uk as it doesn't have their neck stamp in the pocket? Cheers
  9. Hi. Any idea what wood the body is made from. Unfortunately the last Squier body I bought turned out to be mdf. Cheers
  10. Hi. Is the top photograph uploaded tinted or is that the actual colour? Also hard to tell on the lower pic as that one is definitely tinted/coloured by stage lights. Cheers
  11. Looks nice, did you re paint the body yourself? It looks like a silver series, though doesn't have the logo on the headstock, I have a 91 strat the same. I'm looking for one of these to upgrade myself, already have the pickups and hardware etc but if I hadn't and couldn't be bothered (or able) I'd be considering this one. Have a Sunday afternoon listing bump, GLWS
  12. Nice bass. If I have the funds before it sells I might just go for this. The Ad title you link to says Crafted in Japan, though the headstock on both yours and one in the ad says Made In Japan. Not too far away in York What is the nud width on these? Some Japanese P basses are slightly narrower 40mm? Maybe it's just certain Squiers I'm not sure

  14. Yes, I think there was more consistency in the builds of Japanese instruments, certainly many of my favourite basses were made in Japan over the years.
  15. Nice. Think the Japanese P basses has an ever so slightly narrower nut width compared to most USA models, which I like. Although obv there was some variation over the years. Was about to spring for a 93 Japan Squier bass but this is a decent price. I'll have to see if I can find more funds before it sells. I'll keep an eye on it, I'm not far away in York btw
