Total Watts

1. I'm in the market for a decent 5 string so I'm game. I'll be driving out of Cardiff.
2. I've been doing a bit of research trying to find a new set of bass strings and I'm almost there. I'm looking to play in drop B without the strings being too loose so I can use my distortion pedal without the sound getting too muddy. I'll need a heavier gauge but I was wondering if anyone has had experience is playing in this tuning and therefore what would be a good gauge to get? I'm more than likely going to be going for flatwounds too.

Hey dudes and dudettes, After joining a band playing bass after playing guitar for 14 years I've realised that the bass is just a million times better. Loving my 4 string bass stick! Anyways I'm looking to shape my sound in some crazy ways and I was wondering if anyone has put a bass through an MXR Blue Box pedal? That thing makes some low sounds anyway. Would putting a bass through it open up chasms in the earth? Safe.
4. Nadgers! I was in Kent, and actually down the road from there 2 days ago!
5. I've been offered an Ashdown Mag 300H and MAG 410T Deep for £300. Good price? Seems to be what I'm looking for. Or is that Laney the better deal?
6. Tidy! I'll give him a shout if I ever get it back.
7. Yeah, it's with Vman at spartan audio at the moment. When I get it back I'm thinking of part-ex-ing it for a refurbed 120 from Electric Ladyland, hence why I was asking if they had an email. Not something I could explain very well over the phone.
8. Fair play, I'll go for both. I think I need something a bit meatier than a combo. The rest of the band are quite loud. One guitarist is using a JCM800 and the other a 100W Hiwatt head both in half stacks. The drummer isn't quiet either
9.
Relying on rental/borrowed cabs is a bit of a risky game to play. Per example http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Laney-Bass-Amp-Stack...=item414e3d32a4
That one's on my watched items list already
10. I don't need a cab immediately. I can jam at home on my guitar half stack, and borrow cabs in the meantime. I will be getting a cab in the next couple of months though.
11. Hello again! I've sorted myself out with a bass now I need an amp. I have a £300 limit. I'm looking for a head unit rather than a combo (renting cabs at practice rooms and borrowing cabs at shows means that's all I need). I'm really not too familiar with what's good in terms of bass amps. I've got a Sound City L120 in the repair shop, well, saying that my mate has had it for over a year now, I think he might have disappeared! What's good in this price range? Trace Elliot, Ashdown, Ampeg (although these seem very expensive)? Help!
12. Just giving you guys an update. I got hold of an SR300. Blew everything else I wanted to play out of the water. It was the amount of tones I could get out of it and the action that were the killer factors for me. Being a guitarist coming to bass having quite a thin neck really felt awesome to play. Now all I need to do is get Entwistle good and I'll be happy! Cheers for the help dudes!
13. I've actually joined a band, they're an upbeat post-rock affair. Hence the questions about a n00b bass. I need to get a relatively decent one fairly soon. I've never been a huge fan of fender guitars but for some reason I really like their basses.
14. That's a fair shout. I'm going to head into town tomorrow and try out a few basses mentioned, then I'll keep an eye out for deals for my favourite. I should be good for setting up action etc. I've been playing guitar for over 10 years and frequently set up my own and friends' guitars.
