  2. Is there a video about the sound? I also made myself a Prunes & Custard, would love to compare 😁
  3. Yeah oc2 is still on my board as well, it's it's own thing. The overload switch when the tone is lower is great with a filter or just to get the gnarly synth tone, I like the tone higher up without the overload switch, seems to sound more like the criminally underrated Aguilar octamizer with the octave tone up, but with the functionality advantages of the sub switch with the independent volume. So that coupled with the oc2 doing the solo -1 sound does everything for me. I had a FTelettronica Tetractave in its place before but it's more of an oc2/mutron only with the sub solo - amazing pedal tho, especially for the money.
  4. I think that every amp has its own inherent voicing. I like the "clean" channel of my EBS Microbass 3 - it just adds more authority to the sound.
  5. Excellent Rat based distortion with a 2 band eq, one of my favourites.
  6. Gorgeous! Is it me or are the pups further away from the bridge than usual? Or is that because it’s a Special? (I get a little bit lost with the range of variations over the years! GLWTS anyway.
  7. Thousands of years ago the rock for Stonehenge was moved from Wales to Salisbury by a system of rolling it along felled trees. If you buy a few mates a drink maybe they will help?

  9. Honk Tonk Woman - Rolling Stones
  10. Aguilar's website seems to suggest that the AG preamp pedals are super transparent, whereas the Tone Hammer aims for valve amp character, does that sound about right?
  11. Sounds like any of the Aguilar preamps could do this.
  12. The older things get, the more remarkable it becomes when they've managed to stay unspoiled. I'd agree that 20 years ago, a 78 P Bass wouldn't be held in much regard, but that was 20 years ago. Now it's nearly 50 years old and still has all it's original parts. Regardless of if it's a gem or not, it still seems a little sad to start pulling parts off of it now after it's stayed intact for so long. Changing the pickguard is especially egregious to me. There are plenty of brand new P Basses that can be done to. Ultimately, it's the OP's bass and he can do whatever he wants, but it'll just be one less instrument that stayed together and that's kinda sad to me.
  13. Indeed. I was responding to Beedster's comment about punk.
  14. I don't see the problem. Nowhere in the description does it say that it's graphite. Those tuners, incidentally, have their pros and cons. Stringing is dead easy, you just put the string through the middle of the knob. Saddle height adjustment is more awkward, you have to screw the actual saddles up and down, like a Warwick Just-A-Nut I. Intonation is also awkward, as the anchor screw is under the string so you have to move the string out of the way to adjust it.

  16. Don't fret.
  17. I bloody love mine! Synth tastic with my OC2 i dont even need a filter with it 🥰
  18. Another little anecdote which I didn't actually witness but do trust the couple of mates who mentioned it, at different times... Marillion were playing in Birmingham, probably the old Hummingbird, a few mates (some years before I met them) were there, one of whom, Ben, is a *very* big Maori lad...apparently waiting at the bar Fish tried to muscle his way past Ben to get served, Ben was having none of it and told him to wait his turn like everybody else... a while later one of the band's crew came and found Ben and said Fish was quite impressed about somebody standing up to him and invited him for a post-show drink backstage. Ben said "Tell him he can go and .... himself" (I have also found myself stood next to the singer of a well known goth troupe at the same bar in the Hummingbird, shortly before they went on stage, so it wasn't unknown lol)
  19. A fantastic overdrive from Spaceman. What really makes it unique is that it has a resonant filter that allows you to create big filter sweeps when used with an expression pedal. It’s not quite as dramatic as a dedicated resonant low pass filter but still produces really nice sweeps. In excellent to mint condition and includes box and shiny space bag…for cables, miscellaneous plecs, space rocks etc. Price also includes shipping or you’re more than happy to collect from Reading/London. This is what Spaceman have to say: Polaris is a dynamic medium-gain overdrive, with incredibly flexible tone-shaping capabilities. Featuring a 2-pole resonant filter, fully controllable via expression pedal for filter sweeps and out-of-this-world overdrive tones. Zach Rizer offers a great overview including the resonant filter section: Pics: And Spaceman’s own demos:

  20. I asked Scott and he said they don't like Sadowsky basses because they are shite. Joke...
  21. The top one of these two pics is probably closest to how I see it. I’ve just been playing through my GK Plex as a headphone amp tho, and I think I’m in love 😍 Admittedly I’ve had more basses than poor Harvey Price has had stepdads, but this is perfect for me at the moment, so impressed!
  22. I’ve never seen one IRL, just pics but I think the Peter Hook is a more ‘red’ red (hope that description cleared things up 🙄🤣)
  23. yeah, I saw that but the guy already got a Newt instead. Thanks for the heads up thoug

  25. Tariffs mean you pay more for the items and so you're really fining yourself. Choosing not to buy the items is a zero-cost approach.
  26. I'd rather my money stayed in the UK, Europe, or went to Canada or the far east than to the US. Whenever there's talk of targeted tariffs against the US, they tend to mention whiskey and motorcycles, and I often wonder why they don't also include musical instruments and associated gear.
