Helpfully (or not) it happened in the studio, the engineer and I found it went away if we increased pressure (just a little) on the back, near the treble side, roughly opposite the bridge..thanks to a cushion and a battery pack holder for a wireless mic we eliminated the rattle for the session…I’ll check the tuners and endpin in the studio tomorrow… jonny

That's the kiddie. Really nice bass to play, B string to die for, and the asymmetric neck was lovely. Unfortunately the Mayones HF Jabba stole my heart

Exactly that with regards to what we get used to 👍Do you mean the greenburst J Type there? I also tried it and fell in love with the fretboard 😂 Yes 20" definitely feels flat to me too.

Becks always been an artist I will forget about, then every few years remember exists and will listen to nothing but him for a month before forgetting again. I adore his creativity and his novel approaches to music (e.g. the album he released as sheet music only, so you had to "make" the song yourself). Guess I'm listening to only Beck for a month!

I'm super interested in seeing/hearing some sound clips though

The issue I have with fully flat radius boards is that because I'm so used to having a radius (9") that flat feels almost concave to me. I'm sure I'd get used to it, but I found the AGC Graft at Bass Direct a bit too odd. 20" is about where I feel a board as "flat"

Glorious, that’s quite an eclectic selection! It might be an urban myth but I heard about a guy spending weeks removing a set of Top Trumps cards his lad had seen fit to store in his DB 😀

That's fair enough ☺️ I own two Warwick Broadneck basses with 47" radius and as I mentioned I tried a fully flat ACG. If I was blindfolded and was handed a 47" radius fretboard and then a fully flat one I would not be able to tell the difference,in fact forget the blindfold! After a certain radius size (I can't say which but for the sake of this conversation let's call it 16") you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between that and a fully flat one. I definitely notice the difference between 9.5" and 12" but after that(to me) it becomes imperceptible. I totally favour flatter boards where I don't have to go searching "downhill" for the outer strings 😂So my Warwicks although technically not flat feel just like the ACGs in my experience.

Cheers, I don’t know that much about him really, really good discovering some new tunes

Or 3 Calpol syringes, a number of Lego figures, and a 18 inch pheasant tail feather. That's what I retrieved from the F hole of my mandolin when my firstborn was a toddler.

Ah @Reggaebass, some Marlon Asher from my neck of the woods 😜 and fitting for Dancehall Friday! This song is what launched him onto the scene back in the day, the whole country was vibin to this in fetes, radio, everywhere. Good memories...

Make sure your kids haven’t dropped/inserted a small plastic toy that came in a McDs Happy Meal through the F-Hole. Obvs not speaking from experience 🤔

Ive finally got round to cutting a proper bridge for my Shergold project ( https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/483271-shergold-electric-upright/ ) and excitedly mounted the pickups only to find that silence ensues I assumed that theyre piezos so was expecting a pretty low output but this is zero output. Perhaps Im mistaken about them being piezos and they require a polarising voltage. The jack socket has a 4700pF capacitor wired in parallel across the terminals (Im assuming its for hf rolloff). Ive removed it but theres still no output. Theyre approx 27mm long and are made of a blue plastic inner with brass/copper folded around. Theyre from the 20th century Does anyone have any idea what the mystery pickups may be?
