  1. Past hour
  2. I’m sorry - I’ll be working Thursday. If you’re able to make it in to Leicester in the afternoon I could bring the guitar to work and meet there. Drop me a private message if that would work out for you 👍

Looks amazing. Small too, so very gig bag-friendly (looks way smaller than a QC). I'd love to try one out. Only thing it appears to be missing is an expression pedal, or even a connection for an external one. Not a dealbreaker though.
  4. Ha, I’ve looked at this so many times that I completely forgot that I’d already wished you GLWTS. Ah well, as much good luck as I can muster!
  5. Below - the donor amp, minus front panel. The seller was proudly demonstrating its clean, crunch and filth sounds when I admitted it was going to be reincarnated as a bass amp. I think that made him a tiny bit sad... All the 6L6GCs test good and are perfectly matched so need to drop a ton on buying a matched quad. Two of the 12AX7s are good, two test as 'worn'. Result.
  6. We're planning on moving back to the UK from the US later this year. Been keeping an eye on what the approximate equity in our house will be worth when we convert it back to £ - basically, it's worth about £8,000 less since all this f**kery started.
  7. Id love this, but ive just bought a Diamond Jnr

Also if we take away amp modelling and so on which I’m sure is brilliant … it does make me think of zoom line6 will be at the end where there’s a million different effects modelled source audio are the end where the effect has a million different variations you can make this is the zoom middle ground?
  9. In 2008 I bought a MIJ Geddy Lee from a guy in the States, the Dollar was two to the pound back then. Once I'd paid duty at the post office I realised I hadn't actually made the saving I thought I had and should have just bought the Geddy Lee from a guy down the road.
  10. I saw a band down at Alfie's in Soho on Saturday night and there was an absolutely superb band i'd never heard of before called "Happy Garden". All the band members were effortlessly brilliant and they worked so well together as a unit and when soloing. I plan to see them again asap even though it was a long trip down to London, on the train, and an overnight in a hotel. It was worth every penny. The bass player was great, really responsive to what was going on and really held the sound together, plus his bass sounded awesome and used effects tastefully. No idea what the bass was though.

It makes me think of a quad cortex went on a diet and made babies with a zoom b3

  14. Hi, I'm looking for nice reverb. Wondered which of these would be the best? Any thoughts and reasons why?

  16. If you insist....., I hope I can remember all of it, it's been shall we say 'a number of year'. I bought the bass from a service member on Okinawa in 1968. He was being shipped to Vietnam and couldn't take it with him. I payed $175 dollars for it. I then joined the Merchant Marines and shipped out of White Beach in Okinawa and couldn't take it with me! LOL! So I left it in the care of my family as I departed for all points South Pacific. So she was a orphan for 3 years until I finally returned to Arizona where my Dad was re stationed. When I finally got my hands on the bass again I found the heat and humidity in the south pacific was not kind to the finish or the neck. So the trip to Rainbow guitars happened, and she eventually got sorted out. I played the bass for the next couple of years. Then, my wife had a bass playing girlfriend that was joining a all female band in Las Vegas and was looking for a bass that had a slim neck and didn't weigh a lot (the bass weighs 8 lbs), and she was eyeing my bass. Things being as they were, between the two of them they managed to persuade me to sell her the bass. My wife said she would buy me new bass if I sold it to her. I made her promise to sell it back to me if she ever stopped using it. She was a friend so..... Anyway that didn't happen, I walked into a local music store about 2 years later and there it was sans case hanging on a wall. I knew the owner, he made me a good deal and threw in the old touring case for free. The only other misadventure she had was when I loaned it to the bass player for Black Oak Arkansas. They were booked to play at a local club and something, I know not what, was wrong with their bass players bass. Why he didn't have a backup I don't know. Anyway one of the bouncers I knew that worked there called and asked if I would let their bass player borrow my bass for the night. I was going to see the show anyway so like an idiot I said sure. It was a great show, those guys were smokin! No Jim Dandy though, this was after he had departed the band. The problem was he really, really, like it wanted to buy it, like right now! Well we went round and round and finally he relented and gave it back. I thought for sure I was going to have to call for backup to retrieve it! And that's story more or less of my black 66 Jazz Bass. I really don't play it that much anymore, I like chunkier neck now days. She'll never leave the house again though.
  17. I remember American Classics on the Kings Road very well. Just up from The Garage,an indoor market that always had a classic American car parked in the forecourt.
  18. Purchased brand new in 2019 from Laurence Dixon Bass Place. These basses are crafted in a master workshop in Hungary and completed in Laurence's workshop by Andras Lovaszi. More info here: https://www.laurencedixonbassplace.com/the-lovaszi-bass This particular bass is fitted with the more premium endpin as can be found on the more expensive Stella model. A brand new Luna model currently costs £8000. I have performed with it a lot over the past 6 years and it has picked up a few scars over that time - most notably a small crack in the front which was properly repaired by Laurence (the top taken off and the crack properly reinforced). It also has a couple of very small cracks on the side which have been glued, again by Laurence. The fingerboard is in excellent condition and has a lovely flame to the finish. The neck is really smooth, no chips or dents. It its currently strung with Evah Pirrazi strings. Case included in sale. Located in Penge - South East London.

  19. You will not be disappointed, sir.
  20. I used to buy 10 sets of (guitar) string from Musicians Friend, sell 4 on eBay & I had 6 free sets. Not worth it now, even if you can get them to post here.
  21. My Melancholy Blues - Queen
  22. Here's the blurb - they sure ain't low tension, but surprisingly (for me, at least) it seems to work in this context. I can get the strings fairly low with zero buzz, so they're easy to fret. I won't be doing much in the way of string bends, but then I don't really need that in this context anyway, so... p.s. they are easy to slide over from the get-go. My first ever flats were Fenders and itook a good long while before they stopped being "sticky", which almost put me off flats for life. Soundwise, I would describe them as well punchy and very solid. Very even across the neck. Set of Strings for Electric Bass High quality stainless steel flatwound strings for bass Complete set .045 - .100 Long scale Hexagonal core made of American steel for solid bass, optimal tension and constant volume Individually coloured ball ends for easy mounting String gauges: .045fw - .065fw - .080fw - .100fw
  23. I think I might have overpriced this a bit - bump with price drop. £3200 with vintage TCT / East £3100 with reissue TCT £3000 if somebody wants it without a preamp installed.
  24. Bump for price drop £2100
  25. No mad rush.... Look after yourself first... Hope you get well soon.
