  1. Past hour
  2. I described a pre cbs jazz bass here as mint and it wasn’t. That was fair enough. The fact we acknowledge the changes is better than ignoring them (which I’ve experienced before!)
  3. This is good advice!
  4. probably the same here at some stage in the past
  5. I’m sure I’m as guilty as anyone of doing it. Bet if you go through my old listings I’ve done it! At least BB acknowledge it and provide a clear listing with good photos. Can’t imagine paying all that for a bass but if it makes someone happy, why not.
  6. I watched it on iPad using the link in NickD’s original post and I didn’t get any adverts 🤷‍♂️
  7. Absolutely agree, all of these names that I used to read about all the time in guitar magazines when I was a teen (and onwards). I'd pour over those pages pre-internet learning about amplifier design. Really fascinating to hear these memories and experiences! I feel sure it fuelled my interests (not to mention hassling a certain british valve amplifer manufacturer for schematic diagrams to study! - We used to receve them by letter or, if I was very lucky, fax!!!!)
  8. Would a red or white towel do the job?
  9. They're few and far between for me, too! For every gig like this, there's fifty "Why do I bother?" pub gigs... something most Basschatters can probably relate to!
  10. He recorded their album using a Precision with two Thunderbird pickups through a Fender Deluxe.
  11. Pino uses what's right for the musical situation he finds himself in. Flats, rounds, fretted, fretless, whatever. His P-with-flats sound has been in demand since he had the D'Angelo gig, and he's probably done more of that sort of thing than anything else in recent years. He played a Fender Jag with rounds during his stint in The Who. I recall an interview with him at the time saying that the Jag was the only bass he had that got close to Entwistle's sound.
  12. Wow! Gigs like this are far and few inbween for me. Love it. Daryl
  13. Today
  14. There was a guy who had a 74 Precision on Ebay recently, pots, pickups and guard changed and no covers, all original apart from that says he. It either is all original without any changes, then it becomes non original once things have been replaced...
  15. I used to use this for applying just enough compression between the fingerboard and top. There’s a blue towel to protect the top.
  16. I usually put 40-95 Elixirs on my Jazzes, but I do have a set of barely used Thomastik Jazz Flats lying around...
  17. Unexpectedly I’m off to see Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox at the end of the month. A chum’s Mrs can no longer go, so he’s offered me the ticket. Yay! Should be a blast. I love their YouTube videos!
  18. I have the MKII, which is my favourite of all I’ve tried (original, Mini, MKII and MKIII). I really didn’t like the MKIII very much (at least with my basses).
  19. I've got one of these (somewhere)...sturdy by still lightweight GLWTS
  20. Mackie 802 VLZ3 mixer Cracking little desk, I've used it for home recording and gigs - sounds great for both. Tons of features, great mic preamps, full working order, complete with PSU (euro plug with adaptor). Selling as I'm just not using it any more. Manual here http://kunstencentrumbelgie.com/overbelgie/802VLZ3_OM.pdf £90 posted, knock a fiver off if you collect from Bewdley DY12 I'm in Manchester, Liverpool (ish) and Leeds over the next couple of weeks - happy to meet at a services or even drop off if you're near the right motorway. Trades - I'm interested in a Cioks Sol, Jamerson's original P Bass or *possibly* a compressor pedal - feel free to offer anything else.

  21. I have one, it is very good, possible to plug in your mic for your volume and eq and then a line out to the main PA ….it took me a while to sort that out. I position it on a low mic stand about 3 feet away facing upwards to me/my mic.
  22. If it sounds as good as it looks... As for decent strings, I'd go with GHS black tapewounds.
  23. Percy's Song - Fairport Convention
  24. Ok, I made it here in 1991. The main reason that my kids moved to Dallas was that it was much more affordable for them. I can’t really speak about the cost of everyday items there in comparison to here but housing is definitely less. Think about marijuana in this way. Many just want to be able to get what they need for medical or recreational purposes without fearing any legal ramifications. Some citizens in other states are being prosecuted for possession or growing small amounts of marijuana. That being said, I think legalization was just a plus for people considering moving here. The local economy, job market and quality of living is what caused the area to be considered.
  25. Great bass! Had one and regret selling it. If it weren't for brexit I would be all over it. GLWTS
  26. Stunning bass - the best colour too! Unfortunately I'm in the same boat as you and moved over to mostly short scale basses now due to shoulder and hand issues. Would otherwise have been a no brainer, as I'm in Grimsby too! 😎🤘
  27. Grizzly Bass OD/Distortion/Tone shaper - very recently bought on here from @IanA (so I have used his photos and description and linked the ad below). It’s a really good pedal, you can do an awful lot of different things with it - and it does them all really well, but it’s more than I need atm and if I’m honest I just like buying & selling pedals and trying new stuff 😁 I’m not really an overdrive person, but that being said I’m interested in trades/deals for a Trickfish Overdrive Preamp, a Genzler 4 on the floor OD, a DCX Bass or a Genzler Magellan DI (with appropriate cash adjustments). Other than that I’m maybe interested in trades for preamps or compressors but really I’ve priced it cheap to sell £125 - fiver postage if needed Previous ad 👇
