Will Basschat survive the Online Safety Act?
Woodinblack replied to fretmeister's topic in General Discussion
From what I see the age requirements are only to avoid seeing age appropriate things in your 'feed' and checks to ensure no access to adult only content. Basschat has no algorithms to give you any 'feed' - that is obviously based on facebook / twitter style feeds, and we have never had adult only sections, apart from maybe the sections on P basses in sunburst and tort that you have to be at least 70 to have an interest in -

These look like the standard size but will work with 4 or 5 string as they have a bar pole inside. Follow the Instruction link on EMG page for dimensions. I've used them on both. The longer 5 string size are a different code. I have some of those as well on another bass, but not at home at the mo to check. GLWTS, @ead -

I had a Warwick Streamer LX shipped to me in just its gigbag, with an old t-shirt wrapped around the headstock. The shipping label was stuck to the gigbag itself, with no extra tape to keep it secure. That was quite the heart attack when it was delivered to my workplace. I didn't have the wits to ask the driver to hang around for a second while I inspected the bass, so he was gone in a heartbeat. Luckily it had survived intact, and it's one solid chunk of bass! Well, except for the neck pickup which turned out to be dead, but that was unrelated to the (lack of a) packaging job.

We have a 5-8 acoustic gig tomorrow night at The Ziegler Winery. 1 hour commute. Classy place. Daryl

The question would then be, who pays for it? And who carries the risk? I think it's a good idea though. Perhaps a good business idea! Rob -

I bought one of their bridges for a stingray style bitsa - I was very pleased. It did take a while to arrive. It is quite different looking, so if the aesthetic side is important (and why wouldn't it be?!) then I'd think twice. A lot to be said for the BBOT in these cases.

Why don't email providers just do the checks and then provide a verify service to third parties? Then anything you log into with your email is already checked for you. -
I went through all the MEE Pro IEM's, from the 1 to the 4, as well as the 6, and found the 3 to be the best for my use. I liked the 4 driver version but it sounded a bit colder to my ears. The IE100 and IE400 are very close (I have both at home). The fit is slightly different, with the IE400 just a tiny bit bigger, or shaped slightly differently. Both are very comfortable though. Ive even got the BT adaptor for mine so I can use them as normal headphones. I can wear those for hours without fatigue. The IE400 has a bit more bass and open top end (again, according to what I think I hear), but with a very similar tone signature. I find them not far off from my AKG M-50's as far as low end goes. I could never get a KZ of any sort to fit in my ears securely, not matter what tips I used (inc Memory foam). They just seem too big and heavy.

Some sites might want to see proof of age on an official document. Basschat will want to see breath condense on a mirror. -

Oooh....this Anagram looks to be a very interesting new toy....er I mean specific tool I need to find out more about. 🤣 The basic information I can find eludes to it being a very flexible and powerful pedal with many, many IR / amp / mic / effects. However I cannot seem to find a full list of what effects / IR / amps etc. it has onboard or what can be uploaded onto it from the Darkglass suite. Anybody know where this info is? I downloaded the "Darkglass Suite for Windows (5.5.8) - Anagram Support" to see if it gave any info. Once installed it asks to plug in my Darkglass product (which I dont own) or select from the dropdown Simulator options....which doesn't contain anything about the Anagram. I'm a bit reluctant to splash out a lot of dosh on a piece of equipment that I'm not sure what it can actually do for me. Anyone got any idea?

At my age they need to check I'm still breathing. -
I think the bubinga body adds a degree of compression to the tone. Don't some of the Moon Jazz-style basses have pickup placement similar to a Thumb, with the angled neck pickup? They definitely sound nothing like a Thumb. A more comfy Thumb would need a bigger body with a longer top horn, but not a Corvette, because they are uncomfortable in their own right.
