  2. Is range the up/down switch? If it is then expect different input sensitivity to make it work. also does your build use vactrols or seperate led/optical resistor
  3. Is range the up/down switch?
  4. Too tall, Ronnie Corbett would be more accurate.
  5. It doesn’t scroll with touchpad/mousewheel?
  6. I have just listed one of my Yamaha BBV1s in the basses for sale ads
  7. I would have guessed Charlie Haden, as he was such an interesting bassist and character .... except, sadly, he is no longer with us 😞
  8. Yamaha BB V1s medium scale 31 1/2" I have two of these lovely basses and inspired by the recent thread about these I thought I would put this up for sale. This one has had a life, it has been played with a pick which has damaged the finish around the strings, it can only be described as road worn as there are dings, marks and scratches aplenty, ,having said that it is a superb playing and sounding bass with a low action and a wonderfully comfortable played in neck, all original electronics fully functioning truss rod.The frets are pretty good with a little wear, there is a small crack next to the jack socket. The usual made in Japan Yamaha BB quality, lightweight at 3.35kg perfect balance on the strap, lightweight tuners, effective volume & tone controls, original threaded saddle bridge. Perfect for refinishing if you are not a fan of a roadworn bass, but perfectly playable as it is. Happy to post, no case and I would need to source some packaging. Around £2 I guess0 for a next day delivery
  9. Apparently, Pete told Zak he was only researching alternative drummers for a book.
  10. A pretty rare bass these days, the GAXB150 was only offered for a few years, before Ibanez canned the entire GAX range of guitars and basses. It's a shame because they were really fantastic instruments that punched way above their price bracket! Due to this, they are highly regarded and sought after. It really is a lovely little bass This bass is approx. 20 years old, and does have scratches and dings on it, but plays and sounds incredible! The neck is beautifully slim and fast, the rosewood fretboard is gorgeous, and the frets show virtually no wear. The Ibanez DX4 humbucker was used in the BTB basses at the time, and is a decent pickup. I removed the original 'tone selector' switch (NOT a coil switch), and replaced it with a 250k tone pot with 0.047uV orange drop cap. The switch and surround will be supplied with the bass in case you wish to revert to that. Specs: Solid Agathis body Hard Rock Maple Neck Rosewood fretboard Ibanez DX4 dual coil pickup Master volume, master tone Any questions welcome, collection preferred but postage could probably be arranged at buyers cost. Thanks, Oli 😊
  11. Did you try other basses, to make sure it's not the amp?
  12. I've decided to part ways with my customised Trace 1x15" cab. It started out as a sorry looking combo with no amp, but I've converted it to a standalone cab. Refinished with Tuff Cab paint, new corners and feet, new port rings, and some insulation inside. I replaced the original driver with a LaVoce 400w 8ohm unit, which worked out to be the best match after running the calculations (thanks to BCers!). It sounds phenomenal, and is pretty compact for a 1x15"! The speaker alone cost £140 and has done very little work since being fitted. A lot of time and effort went into making this cab, and the results are excellent, however I want to go in a different direction now and need to feed up money and space. Let me know if you have any questions Thanks, Oli 😊
  13. I'm looking to sell these items together as one rig.
  14. We have the same, we've had a few glitches... mostly slow updating. Took me ages to realise adding events on Outlook doesn't send the changes to Google grr!
  15. Selling my epic and now pretty rare Markbass Stu Amp 1000w! This is an absolutely fantastic amp, separate tube and solid state preamp levels, and 7 band graphic EQ make it easy to sculpt the sound you want. The 1000w power amp is excellent, and has masses of headroom. This amp has been housed in a rack case since new, so is in absolutely immaculate condition, as you'll see from the pictures. It comes with the original rack ears, which are virtually impossible to find now, as well as the original box and manual. Collection from Hereford, or I can ship at the buyers expense. Any questions, please let me know. Thanks! 😊
  16. I've put up with more annoying bandmates for a lot less money...
  17. Yamaha bbV1s med scale bass, tobacco burst. I have two of these lovely basses and inspired by the recent thread about these I thought I would put this up for sale. This one has had a life, it has been played with a pick by a previous owner which has damaged the finish around the strings, it can only be described as road worn as there are dings , marks and scratches aplenty, having said that it is a superb playing and sounding bass, all original electronics with a low action wonderfully comfortable played in neck, fully functioning truss rod, frets are pretty good with slight wear. There is small crack next to the jack socket which could be sorted with a little glue. On the plus side the usual made in Japan Yamaha BB quality, lightweight at3.3kg perfect balance on the strap, lightweight tuners, effective volume & tone controls, original threaded saddle bridge A perfect bass to refinished if you are not a fan of the relic look but perfectly playable as it is. Happy to post, no case so I would need to source some packaging , I guess around £20 for a next day delivery
  18. Bought a pedalboard and pedal from Viktor. Great transaction with well packaged and tracked delivery. Items just as described. Thanks again Viktor/BBS, Des

  20. Hey folks I have built myself a Mutron III (well, almost --- its is a Fuzzdog bulild that is a combination of elements of Madbean’s updated circuits, the Naughty Fish and the Nautilus). It has the following controls: Master Volume (pot) Input Gain (pot) Peak (pot) Sweep (pot) Range (two-way toggle) Hi-Lo (two-way toggle) LowPass-BandPass-HighPass (three-way selector) I am trying to check that the pedal is fully functional but I need some help understanding the controls and the expected behaviour to debug it --- I'm not very experienced with filter effects. Thw switching is all good and I am able to get some nice filter sounds. But... What I'm least sure about is the operation of the Range and Hi-Lo toggle switches. Here's my "problems": In one of the two 'Range' positions I don't seem to get any filter effect at all. The Hi-Lo toggle switch seems to be very subtle. So, can anyone explain to me like I'm five... 1) what these two controls are meant to do 2) an idiot's guide to checking they're setup right (fundamentally I'm wondering if things aren't happening because my instrument has too low an output, or if I've picked silly settings, etc).
  21. Thank you for your very sensible responses. I have had some anxiety about sending it off, but I accept it is the only reasonable option. I was just curious as to what might be wrong, for the benefit of educating myself. My experience of passive basses is that they cut out suddenly rather than fading out, so I wondered why it is that active basses do that. But I appreciate there could be any number of causes for it.
  22. Hello, I'm selling this MXR Bass Compressor. It's in almost new condition, with the original box. I'm sure everyone knows what to expect with these now - a nice and natural sounding comp, that's easy to use, with great visual metering too. I'm asking £115, which includes next day delivery. Any questions, shoot me a message. Thanks.

  23. The TI's on my PJ5 are nearly 10 years old. Still sound fantastic. They'll see me out. I also have a Jazz with 12 year old GHS flats, still going strong. I also put a lump of foam under the strings, of each bass, to take off some of that top end!
  24. 60th birthday party for the sound engineers wife last night, and the Hulla band were asked to play a short acoustic set in the marquee in the garden. Sacrifices were made to the rain and wind gods and it was dry and warm. We played without drums and after a trial run the week before it was obvious that my acoustic bass couldn't cut through in the mix so I went with my Ibanez AGBV200 through a little Vox practice amp. As the MC was our sound man, the mix was good. It was meant to be a surprise so the instruments were hidden away in vans, behind hedges etc until we all gathered in the tent, much to the delight of the birthday girl. We did about 30 minutes and had everyone (around 50 or so) up and dancing from the start. One of the reasons I love playing with this band is that we always enjoy the gigs, and the kinds of audiences we play to are there to enjoy as well, so we rarely get the drunken idiots mentioned elsewhere in this thread. (I've experience them in other bands and 100% sympathise with you). No photos have emerged yet, probably because the party went on way after we'd finished. 😀 Footwear - black Skechers lace-ups. Here's one I took of my kit.
  25. I had one, it was absolutely awesome. Great basses.
