  2. Lightweight cab (MBE 115) loaded with Faital Pro 15PR400 NEO Driver (800w) 8 ohm this is a single carry load in if you use a small class D amp This is a considerably upgraded driver which replaced the 200w GK NEO original (the speaker alone was £200 ) last year. It has seen light home use only in this time with my Trace Elliot Elf in a practice capacity. Another way to look at it is get your Faital pro for half price! And the GK cab is free….. Dimensions 40x50x60cm. Weight a paltry 15 KG Pickup preferred in South Wales. any queries fire away

  3. This is really sad news, Sam was such a lovely person! 😔
  4. Do you mean the Q or the Decay setting? I have my Q set at about 10-11 o’clock.
  5. Sacrilege I know but I haven't really listened to Geddy's playing
  6. Somehow I didn't like the mix setting on the Qtron, and I found the voicing on the BEF was 100% better turned to zero as I really didn't like the vowel like character as you turned the dial... great pedal otherwise though.
  7. Mike Beigel’s Q-Tron and 3X also improved this by adding the “mix” setting which is a fixed blend of BP and dry. The MXR BEF has a dry blend and this along with the voicing of the BP filter makes it great.
  8. Yeah, what I’m aiming for here is a short scale L (or M) 2000, or thereabouts. I like my Fallout but I’m not totally sold on the body shape or bridge position, so think I’ll go for a body more like the L2000, but as I said, contemplating moving the bridge pickup to the neck position….
  9. I’ve not used the DI part and hence not used the built-in cab sim (though I’ve run it into sims on my Shift Line Cab Zone Bass). Remember the BP’s mid control is cut-only. I’m only using mine for lowish-gain sounds and have pretty much just dialled in a sound I like and left it there. Gone for a distinctly old-school, warm and woolly tone but with a bit more breakup. Reminds me of some old souls stuff but also some Beatles bass tones. (I’m solely using it with a passive P with labella flats.) It has a decent amount of bass but not the same as say the SV. The way I’ve got it set, the attack is slightly ramped compared to other preamps, that is, the notes sort of bloom in rather than speaking instantly. (Paired with either of the Origin bass compressors, that changes a bit.)
  10. Thanks @Steve Browning I was looking at one from Sound Store Japan. Free delivery but customs duties to be paid by buyer. I guess that'll be 20% extra which could push the price of the used bass to near enough the same price as a new one from Andertons
  11. I have bought a couple of basses from Ishibashi, and both times it was seamless and straightforward. I think delivery may have been a couple of weeks. I would certainly recommend them. The ones that do make me think are those that say free delivery. VAT and Duty are charged on trhe full cost (including these) so it's clearly some kind of wheeze, but I do wonder how these are dealt with, as it can't be free. Anyway, slight digression.
  12. Whats local to you on Faceache Market? I scored a little Eden 8 for £20ish Might see a Baby Rumble 15... Orange Crush, After Eight or som such. Any Loft Find Carpet Covered Combo can be given a Freshen-Up with a Washing up brush and a jumper de-bobbler.
  13. Thanks. Just to say once again that the slap is not overloading my preamp. Everything is nice and clean until the output stage. But I take the point about my technique, which I'm always trying to improve on. I've been playing for 42 years, but it's still a journey. I guess in that time I should maybe have tried a valve output stage amp, eh?
  14. Is this still available? Is the Achenbach edition just about the custom case, or does it sound different too?
  15. Hi all, I'm looking for a small cheap practice amp to take to my bandmates house, for quiet practice, rather than lugging my 2x12. Maybe something in the 15w range? I used to have a Stagg 20w combo amp back in the day which was rubbish. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm really looking for under £40. Thanks!
  16. I'm seeing lots of basses for sale from Japan on ebay. Has anyone here bought from a Japanese seller? Did it take a long time to arrive? Would you recommend it?
  17. Jay bought a Bartolini Pre from me - absolutely joyful transaction x
  18. Yeah, I have the DCX and briefly had the Black Panel and I don't think they sound the same (although it was >6 months and a different bass between trying them so no sort of direct comparison). Both are good though.
  19. Some people do care about non original solder joints. We don't talk to them but they do exist. Would look miles better with tort IMO.
  20. Today
  21. Well...if anything is going to tempt me into Swindon...
  22. Interesting. I was hoping to get similar tones (with some more mid-options) and a DI in the BP. Obviously the BP has the cab sim too. How would you describe it's sound and why do you love it?
  23. Electro Harmonix B9 Organ Machine ... £100 posted to UK. Very good condition with a couple of very minor scratches and complete with box, instruction sheet, and power supply. There's many demos on Youtube, so here's one ...
