I don't know enough about Darkglass' products, especially their digital devices, to make an informed comment, but as a totally new platform, one would hope they will work on developing and supporting it well. That said, on paper, it appears to be capable of doing everything my Helix LT does, but in a more compact form factor, which is very welcome. I have considered downsizing to an HX Stomp previously, but I would struggle with the limited block count for some specific situations.

For a while my daughter worked for Tesco on a nightshift, filling the trays for home delivery orders. She doubted the worth of the substitute list when it suggested that the acceptable substitute for a customer order for vegetarian sausages could be meat ones. What really did her in was a manager telling her not to think for herself and just put the meat ones in... 🙄

On the other hand, I save around £30 a month by using PayPal business to pay international suppliers, they get paid instantly instead of after potentially weeks (or moths in the case of Australia (where normal payments fail more often than succeed) or America (where many people have banks that don't accept international payments(!))

Bernmeister started following Feedback for Soulman

I was lucky enough to buy Julian’s ( Soulman ) Fender Jazz V Elite Yesterday. It was great to meet him to do the handover. The bass was everything as described & in a virtually brand new condition. It was a pleasure to meet him. Don’t hesitate to buy if he’s offering anything for sale or trade with him. Thanks again Bernie

I've got two Xotics, one a similar 5 string to this and a 4 string version. They are great basses, easily equivalent to a Japanese (or German) Sadowsky. The 4 string is probably as good as any bass that I've ever owned! Unfortunately, they don't hold their value as well as a Sadowsky, or something like an American Lakland. I bought the 5 string secondhand about two years ago for a fair bit less, same bass as this (although this is a nicer colour). They are definitely undervalued secondhand, but still a great bass. I doubt that I will ever sell mine. -
It's getting dangerously close to a tone wood argument I'll admit
-
I think the very dense body wood of a Thumb also contributes something, although, probably less on the bolt-on. If you were to build a Jazz sized body with similar woods though, it would be a boat anchor!
-
Thanks Kev. I'll admit defeat on understanding/experiencing this one 😂

I've been toying with the idea of building a Jazz bass with Thumb pickup placement, maybe even with a wenge neck, just to see if I could get someting similar sounding. It's somewhere on my very long list of future projects

Lozz196 started following To feet or not to feet, that is the question...
-
I think I`ve only had a couple of set-ups where the cabs stack together with the plastic corner things, but in each case, due to more than a bit of ODC in always wanting to use the same cabs in the same position I`ve put feet on the one I`ve chosen to be the bottom one.

dclaassen started following Jam nights - cliquey

This is exactly my experience with jazz jams. I do not find it enjoyable.
-
I had to Google Gus basses. Isn't the Corvette design older?
-
I guess its how the woods and general build of the bass resonates. If its dead acoustically, that transfers through when amplified. If its loud and alive, that seems to too. The effect diminishes with active preamps and especially active pickups (I find anything with EMGs in the same positions sound the same).

It should say "Paul's letter to the Epiphanies", the lesser-known one after Paul's letter to the Corinthians.

This is all immaculate, not a single mark or knock anywhere. Gigged a couple of weddings and has otherwise sat largely unused and barely left the house. It’s a really nice setup, and a tall, hugely loud 800 watt 4x10 in a lightweight package. I would split, with the combo at £650 and cab at £250. Combo comes with foot switch for drive channel and Roqsolid padded cover and cab with Fender dust cover. Trade wise, would be interested in a 5 string P bass.

TRADES: Only really interested in 5 string P basses. Made in Japan Yamaha BBP35 with Yamaha hard case. The bass sounds excellent, plays wonderfully and is in good condition. Yamaha say: Made in Japan, this is the ultimate BB, featuring an Alder/Maple/Alder construction treated with Yamaha’s unique IRA technology, a six-bolt miter neck joint, and a diagonally strung convertible bridge. I’d say it is in “good player’s condition”. It came from Bass Bros as it is today, described and sold as “immaculate”. Which it isn’t, if you’re a collector. The pick guard and pickup covers have dulled from play and there is a mark behind the bridge where the previous owner had let the B string rub the finish when changing strings. At least, that seems mostly likely cause to me. the neck and headstock ARE immaculate. There are no dings, chips, dents of any kind. It’s just a really lovely bass, they’re my favourite and this one feels and sounds (somewhat) like a vintage instrument. It does everything well in its own BB-esque way. Weighs in at a shade under 8.9lbs, which is pretty light for a BB!
